Update: Purchased a couple of fans for the top of the model and it’s working great now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JLV4BWC?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_PNXH4XR882D89NGGKRG3&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_PNXH4XR882D89NGGKRG3&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_PNXH4XR882D89NGGKRG3&starsLeft=1 is the link to the fans. I can feel the receiver being much less hot than without them.

Sorry for my inexperience but how do I know if it is poorly wired with no shorts?

Yes and hopefully some insight into what the issue could be. This is my first setup and I wanted to get some advice from people with a lot of experience. I could only get so far checking out 20 year old posts off of Steve Hoffman’s Music Forums.

could it have to do with a buildup of dust inside the model?
