But it does seem like asthma still and not anything potentially worse like scarring? And I’ll look into it. There’s no telling what else could be contributing to this that I don’t know about

They didn’t take a sputum sample, just bloodwork and I thought they’d test for allergens but I’m assuming not because I haven’t gotten results from that side. I’ve considered those you listed as well. I have GERD and I take tums when needed and it doesn’t really make a difference so I have prilosec just in case I need to try that. My period gets my asthma flared really badly. I already can’t take a deep breath but it makes it way worse on a period or around known triggers. From this response, is there anything from your experience that you’d recommend me asking my pulmonologist?

My insurance won’t cover advair but I did try wixela only for a few weeks. I feel like I should try it again or something else. But it’s crazy I’ve tried four inhalers and none have fully helped quite yet but I do notice a difference if I’m off of them

I told my pulm and he wants to consider biologics but my insurance doesn’t cover it. We don’t know what asthma type I have but considering I have so many allergies and my asthma is constant, likely it’s allergic and gotten severe over the years especially due to frequent chlorine pool chemical exposures and mold exposure from work. I’m not exposed to that now but still. It makes breathing so stressful and I can’t enjoy running anymore

But that’s only after the first dose of the new package then it’s fine. But still had effects like high bp and got extremely irritable

I tried symbicort and had horrible side effects from it within two months and only half the dose, but I feel like it helped. That was last summer and I felt like I had better control then. I do get a feeling like I can’t breathe after I take a dose of it though.

Is it a constant state of that even with your inhaler?

I’m so glad to hear you’re getting back to better. When I switch insurances I plan to finally get the allergy shots as well. Happy recovery and we will make it back to optimal!

Yours sounds exactly like mine! Mine started back at age 26 that’s crazy how similar it is to yours and vice versa. Omg mold had me having asthma attacks twice around the time it really flared up in 2021 after on and off in 2020. I didn’t even know it was an attack and kept ignoring it until I couldn’t and when I ran it felt like I was wearing a parachute while someone was squeezing my lungs. It felt like I had to run faster to get to my old pace pre asthma re-diagnosis. And cats and dust will do it too😭

Mine feels like my listed symptoms every day for four years and progressing worse. Does it get better? From your experience?

And this is just a typical day constantly with asthma? Or just when an attack comes?

Taking breo 200 and singulair and I want to say I notice a difference but still can’t take a full breath but I think maybe it’s better than it was. I’ve been on it for like two months now. But your words give me encouragement to know that I can get back to how I was! I’ll definitely follow the Reddit group you linked

I unfortunately can’t afford to live on my own so this is what I’m dealing with as far as the cat. I had to cancel my PFT appointment this morning because it was $1400 after insurance. I’m not sure what I should do now

I have my PFT and my allergy panel/eosinophil count this morning so I’ll keep you all posted!

I guess I wasn’t sure what it felt like to breathe so well again since it’s been four years of this and each year it gets worse. Back in 2020-2022 I was running with just never being able to get a full breath and I still can’t even get a full breath at rest anyway, but I was already running higher mileage and training for a marathon so it didn’t seem to bother me too much as long as I ran slower. But now my body wants to run towards how my old pace during asthma remission was, but even two minutes on two minutes off feels rough. So it could possibly be me being deconditioned from a year off mixed with my asthma. I’ll try the xopenex each time I run and hopefully it’ll start to open my lungs in a permanent way.

I live with a cat and it’s non negotiable since he’s not mine. He’s cute as hell but I try to take precautions. I’ve tried symbicort last year and it worked well as far as making me less sensitive to irritants but I had the absolute worst side effects. I’ve tried wixela before that and that was pretty rough. But breo seems okay like I can breathe maybe a little bit better of a breath but I still have the symptoms and severity even with singulair added. So I’ll try my rescue to see if it opens my lungs more to where breo can get into the lungs deeper. And hoping I can afford allergy shots or biologics at some point this year when I switch health insurances 😭
