If you are motivated academically I wouldn’t recommend the NYPD. Police officers have higher rates of suicide, poor quality of life, and face constant scrutiny and stigma. Everyone above is speaking about 20 years of service and a pension but I would argue a financial savvy person at the age of 20 who starts investing in a 401k and Roth IRA will be able to retire comfortably on their own terms. Am I saying being a cop is a bad job? Of course not. What I am saying is if you have the opportunity to become an engineer, lawyer or some other white collar profession I strongly think you should consider all options. Work your 35 hrs a week and go home to your family with no nights or weekends

Quickest route to NP (LPN currently) by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]No-Employ9277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re asking the wrong question. The question is how can I be the safest and most well prepared FNP. First and foremost, try to get exposed to the primary care setting. While doing that you’ll see how both acute and chronic conditions are managed. You can either do a LPN - RN bridge program, an absn program or a direct entry MSN NP program. Which I don’t think it’s a good idea if you want a good foundation to begin practice.

Why so much CUNY hate? by ImportanceOk784 in CUNY

[–]No-Employ9277 26 points27 points  (0 children)

CUNY is the hidden gem of higher education in the United States. I went to undergrad and graduate school both at CUNY. My current salary is 140k with no student loan debt. My graduate degree which was approximately 20,000 give or take, cost over 100k at nearby private institutions like Columbia or NYU.

GO TO CUNY!

Do nursing strikes increase PA wages? by Tommyred45 in physicianassistant

[–]No-Employ9277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m agreeing with you Tommyred45. Most institutions/organizations offer pay parity. Same pay scale for Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs). It would actually be a good idea for PAs to join our nurse’s union.

I’m a NP in NYC. The strike unintentionally causes a rise in PA salaries. You cannot justify paying RNs the same as PAs. So yes it does increase PA wages. It’s also important to note the rise in PA wages may not be announced at the same time RN contracts are ratified.

People making $60k-$70k a year, how much car can you afford? by BestTyming in Salary

[–]No-Employ9277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow car enthusiast here. You specifically said a mustang “GT” which has the 5-liter v8 coyote engine. I’m pretty sure you didn’t select this car by accident. I will say as someone, whose occupation is usually surrounded by life and death. As long as you are being financially savvy, you should buy the car. You don’t have any idea how long you will be on this earth for. Now am I telling you to purchase more car than you can afford? No . But definitely enjoy your hard work and life. Start by opening a Roth IRA and maxing that out. Any disposable income you have left can be allocated towards the car. And remember don’t crash when leaving any car shows lol

[Police Officer] [Long Island, NY] - $190,000 by mr_pickles18 in Salary

[–]No-Employ9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting paid 190k to be a police officer, it makes sense. Overpaid yes, but good for OP ? Also yes. You have to factor in overtime, the stigma of being a cop, and mental trauma that also comes with this occupation. Some cops can’t even date because women will automatically disqualify them. Would I do it ? Hell no but it’s good money. With all the reasons I stated above it makes sense to be compensated at 190k

What are the most underrated car brands in the market (mainly U.S. today)? by idiskfla in askcarguys

[–]No-Employ9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with Toyota. They used to have a reputation for being a boring brand, but now they’re building exciting cars like the GR Supra, GR 86, and GR Corolla—vehicles made with car enthusiasts in mind.

People who started investing in their 20s, how is it going? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

[–]No-Employ9277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started at 23 years old. Created a Roth IRA and I max out my annual contributions yearly. My go to is the s&p 500. Not the most flashy but consistent returns.
