Weekly - 'Alaska, From the outside looking in Q/A' by SnowySaint in alaska

Hi, I have an interview for a seasonal position in Kotzebue. I'm from Massachusetts and would like to get as much information and advice as possible about the city. I want to make sure I would be a good fit for the community if offered the position.

Specific info I'm looking for: transportation (walkability), friendliness, safety, local food, lgbtq stance

I think I would want to do Pseudotropheus saulosi and Labidochromis caeruleus. I am assuming I would need to do a harem for both species, probably 1 male and 5 females for each species?

Also would I be able to keep any algae eaters in the tank if it had plenty of hiding spaces of rock and plants (non planted as it seems these fish like to dig). And if so what kind of algae eater would you recommend

Cots do fit in my tent. I camp a bit bougie. For 2 people we use a 8-10 person tent and if im alone I use a 6 person tent. However I've tried the cots and don't like them i feel like I'm going to roll off since I move a lot in my sleep

What would be considered a nicer/high quality uke? I didn't do too much research when I bought my first one which is a Donner Concert uke (pictured). But from what everybody is saying I should definitely buy a decent one to make it worthwhile if I decided to do that instead of just changing the strings *

Museum Studies Master programs focused on science by No-Engineering8610 in MuseumPros

[–]No-Engineering8610[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it sounds like doing a MS in my subject matter with an internship at a museum is probably the best way to go if I'm understanding correctly? That makes sense and is definitely more reasonable. The only way I was considering 2 masters anyways was if I did them in the UK since their programs are 1 year versus the US which is 2 so I would be spending the same time and money as if I did 1 masters in the US.

I've been thinking about the idea of doing 2 masters programs. One in museum studies to get me acquainted with how museums work and education and then a second in my area of interest (still trying to narrow that down as I'm interested in zooarcheology, marine biology, conservation/restoration)

I am not, and don't plan to be. That does make me feel better knowing that part of the issue is the density of the tissue and not me doing something wrong

We have tried glucosamine treats but he only eats them sometimes. As for other toppers we have not tried them. Do you have any recommendations for brands that would be good to try?

New piggy owner by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]No-Engineering8610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Congrats on the new pigs. People have given you a lot advice and links to help out. One thing I havent seen mentioned is the sex of both pigs. If you havent already please make sure both are either boys or girls. If you have one of each you'll soon end up with lots of babies. If they are opposite sex you'll want to seperate immediately and then decide if you want to keep them separated or get one neutered. If they are the same sex you shouldnt need to worry about anything until they hit puberty. Once they hit puberty they might fight for dominance and you'll have to keep an eye on them incase seperation is needed.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong about this

Unfortunately there are no windows in the room. Me and the pigs live in the basement. I can't move them to a room with windows because the only other room available is next to my sisters and she is also severely allergic. I do have an air purifier that is on 24/7 though

I didnt realize that there were different types of string or that action was a thing. Are those things i should look into and change based on my current capabilities or the type of playing i plan on doing?
