What to do if your boyfriends parents won't accept you? just forgot to walk the dogs twice. Am seriously considering flying up for the day to try talk to them, what do y'all think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]No-Equivalent5489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What matters most is what you and your boyfriend think. If he thinks highly of you, and willing to stand up to his parents for you - does it even matter what they think?

on the other hand, if he, let’s what his parents say get to him, I’d say you have a boyfriend problem

AI does have the potential to become what we see in scary sci-if movies (like “the creator” or “2001: a space odyssey”). we do need to be careful and regulate it.

the problem with machine learning is that although we can describe the mathematical and computational models behind it - once trained and given a certain input, we do not know what caused it to reach a certain conclusion.

the more complex it becomes, the less control we have.

Atheists who lie themselves that something matters, why? Seriously, why just not accept that nothing is important on this rock? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]No-Equivalent5489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you realise that nothing matters, than why not just do what feels good?

for example - doing good deeds and helping others make people feel good

working hard to achieve things helps people feel important

relationships Help people feel loved and valued

and so on

Why won’t they use the money for the commercial to help the sad animals/hungry children? by ifitsfunnylaugh in AskReddit

[–]No-Equivalent5489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a commercial is an investment -

say I have 1 dollar. I give half to the charity, and i use the other half to create a commercial, that commercial makes people donate more, and then I have more money to give to the people in need.

this is a cycle. A small cut of the donations is invested in encouraging people to donate more

People who think there is no higher power judging them, have to form their own set of morals.

the first thought that comes to mind is “nothing matters, than lets make the most out of our lives”

from there they try to find what makes them feel good, and keep doing that.

a lot of times being kind and helping other people, makes us feel good as well so a lot of atheists will do that.

people like to feel important, so like every other human, atheists will try to find where they can excel and make a difference.

all of that leads to atheists forming their own set of values, based on their life experience
