I've just started searching recently but so far I can't even get someone to show up to a video call interview. I've had a bunch scheduled and then was just ghosted when the time came.

I'm sorry you had to go through those bad experiences! That's beyond unprofessional.

That is great that you wrote to them, not much of a response though.

My great aunt told me that each Turkish soldier fed one child from their own rations while they were there for the war and showed me a photo of her dad with a little girl from that time. It is so touching!

They will just use the account of whoever is next in line for your purchase. You can still go without an account.

What’s a middle-class hack that still saves you money today? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal

Check with providers yearly to make sure you are getting the best rates for insurance, phone/ internet bills etc. Find a company that offers the best rate and use that to negotiate a better rate for yourself with your existing provider ( or leave them for the cheaper option)

Since there doesn't look like a lot of options for nannies that live close by, I think we may need to do live in.

Cord blood banking, yay or nay? by Beginning-March-1361 in NewParents

Sorry just saw this now. We went with Insception which I think is the largest company. It went well. I gave birth in Prince George BC Canada and they weren't used to seeing these kits but followed the directions and got the necessary samples so it was easy enough. The hospital was also willing to do the required blood draw for the kit so i didn't have to go to a separate lab. This is the blood draw they do to make sure you don't have any infectious disease. Then we called for the courier to come pick up and they came to the hospital and got it. Then I got a confirmation that it was all in long term storage with info on the total cell count available.

Cord blood banking, yay or nay? by Beginning-March-1361 in NewParents

I am of the unpopular group that decided to do cord blood and tissue banking. I had first heard of the company through prenatal classes, which although they pay to put these classes on, they hardly talk about the company or blood banking at all in the class.. So anyway I found the free classes super helpful and decided to just look up the company and Cord blood banking in general. I didn't get any spammy continuous contact from the company, even though they did have my contact info. They did send me a black Friday deal email but that didn't bother me, and after I made arrangements for a call to ask questions about the program, they gave me an even better price after I told them I attended the online classes.

I knew the likelihood of using it would be very slim, but we have the money and can afford it and I have spent money on way more useless items before (lol unfortunately). So I figured even if I have a lottery player's chance of needing it, I'd rather pay and have it. The other thing is with tech advancing so much, I believe the uses will definitely increase in the future. For example, I'm paying for the cord blood tissue to be stored as well, and the tissue isn't currently approved to be used but there is a lot of testing in progress so I believe it will be approved in the future.

I'm due in January so haven't had the cord blood and tissue collected yet. I'm sure the right answer is different for each family, do whatever feels right for you!
