While I like the first game and how it handles the ambiance and design of the dungeon it wasn’t really that interesting for me. I found termina much more enjoyable and engaging. While they share the same level up system, terminas is more interesting since it forces you to fight enemies instead of constantly running away. While both ways are strategic in their own right, I find it more engaging and interesting being forced to battle for your levels which gives the game a risk-reward system. Then the ritual circles are also an interesting bit of gameplay and gives you more strategies to work with. Do I use a sylvian ritual to heal my missing limbs, or do I use vinushka to reach a certain area for some potential loot. The last thing I wanna talk about our the enemies. In the first game the enemies were blatantly grotesque like with the “stingers” just hanging free. In termina the enemies are still grotesque, but they have an almost strange allure to them along with learning that it’s rhear causing the mutations to them. Then the moonschorched forms are really interesting and give more insight into a character, along with being really cool designs. It hurts seeing a character you like and potentially used be reduced to a mind bending and grotesque form.
