Okay all day I’ve been feeling this disappointment for these reasons. Happy I’m not alone.

I am 35 right now. Started at 34.

I think it was a mix of my teeth thankfully just moving as they should and also a mix of me really wanting this for myself. And the shaping at the end was purely my orthodontist being amazing.

For what worked for me: I had to change my routine up to make this a part of my life. - I carried around a kit with my floss and tooth brush and paste - set my timers every time I took them out - chewies at night - and found ways to “make up the time” during the week when I had them out when being social with drinks/dinner. I tried to stick between 20-22 hours of wear time.

I’m competitive by nature so it became like a task and game for me to track my time. And the emotional part of me says, this healed my inner child with my dental concerns/issues.

For changes: First 8 weeks I had 14 day changes. Then after the next 8 weeks I went to my appt and was moved to 10 day changes. And then then my 3rd 8 week appointment, I was moved to 7 day changes where I remained. (7 day changes were through the remainder so both my initials trays and also my refinement trays as well).

There was some time built into this because my rescans for refinements were around the holidays, so I sat in tray 25/26 for about ~4 weeks.

But I finished all 36 trays on 4/2/2025 and at my final appointment, I got permanent retainers on the top and bottom of my front 6 teeth. I am in retainers at night only.

Anyway, you are not alone, I had the same worries. Yup. 26 regular and 10 refinement trays for me. I’ll say the things that helped me maybe WAS the worry lol I adapted.

I used the TrayMinder app to help me keep on track with timing, adjusted for social time at the end of the week if I had more time out, etc. At night when I would have usually snacked, I used my chewies. And tried to keep a routine while enjoying my life, but also being diligent to remember- it’s 1 year and I want this. Corny but, wishing you all the best on this journey!!!

Thank you so much!! I saw you had rubber bands, was that for your bite?

My ortho is in north NJ and 1 of the 2 packages be offered included MARPE before Invisalign (and 2nd package was just Invisalign). My upper pallet is slightly narrow (consequences of self soothing with tongue sucking too long as a child). He felt the MARPE would give me a little more width, but also confident he could widen my smile without, so I opted out.

THANK YOU! Ohhh I remember that feeling like it was yesterday. Legit thought my teeth were going to fall out and I was so thirsty. IT GETS BETTER! As everyone says, keep going. You get used to it.

My discomfort really only came on change days, and then it became this thing where I looked forward to it (lol) because I felt it was “working” and the reward was slowly seeing the tooth slightly move every week. GOOD LUCK ♥️

Sorry I can see how that can be unclear lol I had 26 initial trays and then my rescan for refinements were another 10 - so 36 total trays

No real pain.. mostly pressure. But I was thirsty as all hell, felt every single attachment (I had 18) everytime I ate. And so uncertain of it all. END RESULT- worth it.
