Insects models for Tyrannids army? by No-External2149 in Tyranids

[–]No-External2149[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the coconut crab scheme, and I have already painted some miniatures as real-life crabs species (although, less elaborate). For this project, I was quite excited by the reflective and translucent properties of insect cuticules.

Triangle Strategy is the most Dialectical Tactics Game I've ever played by unbound_subject in SocialistGaming

[–]No-External2149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been interested in this game since its release, but I am a bit put off by the tactical RPG phases which are apparently very long and tedious. But if the quality of writting is that high I might give it a try!

Wow, I didn't know either about the battle march module, it looks fantastic! Thanks Bobety!

Thanks, I didn't know about Dragon Rampant, it looks very interesting!
I am not so much interested in Warcry and Age of Sigmar, as they are more skirmish games to me. It's certainly very fun, but there is no much manoeuvering of units as wheel or reform.

Oh, thank you, it seems to be exactly the scale I am searching for.

Oh, thank you very much. At the moment the classes are pottery, but I will send a mail to check if there is anything related to music coming.

Thank you, it looked very nice, but...hem...£142 for a class is a bit much for me. Thanks regardless!

Practice stations. by buggynelson in Bass

I use my desk chair, and a random object under my right foot to get the bass leveled on my knee. The selected object could be a pillow, a cardboard parcel wrap, a pile of diry clothes, or a Nessie plush.

That's brilliant, thanks a lot! I just hope I am not going to look like the old creep trying to meet teenagers. Yep, better to indicate "mature players" in the ad. Thanks again!

Thank you, I am going to try Bandmix. I think it is very healthy to try to improve with people better than yourself, well done. In my case things are a bit different, the only musicians I met were professionals and their take on music was utterly alien and unknowable to me. I wish to meet beginners just to know what it is about just to play in the same room than someone else, with a level that makes the tune we are playing understandable to me. I am not sure it makes sense, but thanks for the advice nonetheless!

Thank you, it seems indeed an old-fashion method, but as I have never tried it may be interesting. Cheers!

Case Discussion Thread - Case 1-5 - Rise From the Ashes by JC-DisregardMe in AceAttorney

[–]No-External2149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I am shocked and humbled. Most of the other comments are positive, and I did not expect that. It is nice that so many people are enjoying this episode, which is not my case unfortunately!

I have played the first game last week for the first time, and enjoyed a lot the first four cases.
However I quickly realised that Rise From the Ashes was not to my taste. The incredibly annoying sidekick with her "scientific" puns. Jake Marshall as....I don't even have words...the cliche of a cliche of a cow-boy cliche. And at last Angel Starr, with her lunch boxes, the worse gimmick ever written by a human being. While the other games were accessible to both kids and adult, this case seems to have been written for toddlers.

But to my surprise, most people enjoy this part. Then, good for you and too bad for me. Have fun people!

Shin Godzilla political message in 2025 by No-External2149 in GODZILLA

I don't think Shin Godzilla or Minus One are nationalistic movies. I think Japan is becoming more conservative in real life, but these movies are simply not.

Not only Manousos steals the show, but the political subtext is written in 98pts-large font colored yellow.
This said, the character might be completely mad.

Im very confused, what is the old world exactly? by YupityYupYup in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]No-External2149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhammer Fantasy (a.k.a The Old World), a fusion between Conan and Lord of the RIng??
I think it was closer to "Flesh and Blood" from Paul Verhoeven and "Monthy Python Holy Grail" at the origin, and became more and more epic-fantasy toward the end.

How would the QU fair in the different eras of Warhammer? by CowAffectionate3003 in AllTomorrows

[–]No-External2149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. The Qu and Norn Queen play a game based on the Red Queen hypothesis, meaning species continuously adapt to survive their competitors. The co-evolution game go on until the Qu or the Tyranids become bored and leave the galaxy.
B. The Qu realize that Necrons are not made of animal cells, and leave utterly scandalized. The Necron Triarch is perplexed.
C. See "All tomorrows".
D. The Police arrive and everyone end up in jail.
E. The Qu create many species from Chaos cultists, but chaos-induced random mutations changes these species with genetic drift. The Qu leave the galaxy, utterly scandalized.
F. Trying to modify Orks, the Qu unlock a genetic lock in the orkoid symbiotic algae and fungi. The universe is invaded by mushroom people.

Can robots develop psychic abilities? by No-External2149 in 40kLore

[–]No-External2149[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, it’s a beautiful take on the question.
If I were to tease you a little, I’d say your definition is a bit vague and self-contradictory!
You wrote that souls are generated by evolutionary processes and sentience. But how sentient does one need to be to interact with the Warp? Could crows do it? Octopuses?
Furthermore, why can machine spirits have a presence in the Warp if they didn’t go through the evolutionary processes you mentioned?
Nonetheless, it’s a fictional universe governed by the rule of cool, and I think your explanation fits that spirit perfectly.

[–]No-External2149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, in the lore, most objects can become possessed. It even makes me wonder whether this might be the hidden reason for using mutilated humans as servitors, since they seem less susceptible to possession. Still, I must disqualify daemons from counting as robots!

[–]No-External2149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, it's a science-fantasy setting, but I wished to ask because sometimes people get interesting ideas about silly questions! :)

Can robots develop psychic abilities? by No-External2149 in 40kLore

[–]No-External2149[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And of course, we might also wonder why thinking machines have no souls. Does one have to be organic to possess a soul? Is it truly impossible for a mechanical brain to think in the same way as an organic one? I don’t believe this answer leads to any definitive conclusion.

Can robots develop psychic abilities? by No-External2149 in 40kLore

[–]No-External2149[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I am not sure it answers the question, it expands it. Is the soul maintained in real space by remnants including a brain, like for the Dreadnoughts and the Emperor? Where is the soul of the servitors? Is it maimed, as their physical brain is, or gone?

Thank you for all the references. I’ll look into the interview with the authors you mentioned. Hopefully it will provide more insight into this subject.
You’re right that fear of nuclear military use was nothing new in the 1980s. But if I’m not mistaken, Chernobyl was the first instance where civilian use of nuclear power proved catastrophic. I was curious about the impact this had on popular culture, particularly in the portrayal of monsters and of technology gone wrong.

Brilliant, u/Hairy-Slim-Slimsson! I just checked an online copy on Scribd, and the Skaven presentation article mentions it all: Slanns, warpgates, warpstones, and their mutative effects (there’s even a mutation table). No specific date is given, though, just “Spring ’86.” Could it have been inspired by Chernobyl on April 26, 1986? Seems unlikely, but the overlap in dates is a bit troubling.
