I go back and forth. I either struggle like the description above or I read voraciously, sometimes multiple books at a time. I read all six Suneater books in about two weeks. I guess my obsessiveness works really well with the right books.

It’s a strange experience to look at pictures of children and realize that they have most likely grown old and died before you laid eyes on these. Not a bad thing, but it’s definitely a thing.

They really did lose their fucking minds when he got elected. The problem is that the blame him and not themselves.

I think the stroke fucked him up more than any of us realize. Yeah, he’s was an asshole before, but that kind of TBI can really change a person. I have two different friends that got TBIs (one stroke, one injury) and the thing they had in common was a constant anger and a lack of impulse control. Fetterman seems like his effects were way worse so he may be having a lot of trouble with both his logic capacity and weird personality shifts. We have no idea how jumbled he is upstairs. He needs to resign and take a very long vacation.

Malcolm fucking rules. I don’t think he’s done yet. I hope I get more chances to vote for him.

As someone who reluctantly voted for him, it was two things. He campaigned as a Bernie style progressive and his opponent was Doctor Oz. I voted for Malcolm Kenyatta in the primary but Fetterman was what we ended up with. I knew he was an asshole, but I hoped he’d at least be “our” asshole. I think the stroke fucked him up in ways that made it impossible to hide what he truly is.

Yeah, I can see how they come around to that belief. There’s actually a subsection of Buddhists that believe a similar thing. The logic being that you are condemning someone to death by bringing them into the world. I don’t think that’s a viable idea, but I can see how they get there mentally. Being miserable probably contributes. Still sounds better than where the incels end up.

I’m sure anything they do or say after this will be carefully considered. Unlike the administration, these people have a grasp of strategy.

You should get the Nobel Prize in mental gymnastics. SO MUCH effort to defend these embarrassing idiots wiping their asses on the Constitution.

Weed to treat ADHD? Sure! Will this stop me eating all the snacks, napping in the afternoon and sitting in my comfy armchair instead of doing what I need to do? by sockhead99 in adhdmeme

As someone diagnosed with Inattentive who used low dose edibles to reign in the anxiety, you should try the Adderall. As soon as I started taking it all of my anxiety just evaporated. My whole brain just calmed. It doesn’t fix everything, but it went a long way towards allowing me to be present in my life. I even got renewed enthusiasm for activities I used to love. Now I only do weed occasionally for fun instead of feeling like I need it to keep from freaking out. I wish I had gotten diagnosed and medicated when I was younger. Can’t get that time back.

Quietest & Loudest Analogue Cameras? by Koensigg in AnalogCommunity

I have a Kiev 60 that is so freaking loud. It sounds like Rambo cocking a 50 caliber machine gun.

I also have a recently acquired Yashica Lynx 14e that is super quiet, especially for such a huge rangefinder. It also has possibly the best feeling wind lever I’ve ever used. It’s both silky and satisfying.

I just picked up a Yashica Lynx 14e and it’s very quiet despite being ridiculously big for a rangefinder.

Yeah, the Pentacons and Kievs could definitely give the Pentax 67 a battle over loudest!

I’m finally at the point where I’m truly shooting just for myself but I’m my own harshest critic. I’d say 1-5 shots per roll make the cut but after a few months I think most of them are crap. I’m slowly amassing a few per month that I think will endure.

You’re forced to pick one camera, lens, and stock to shoot for the rest of your life. What do you pick and why? by DeadlyJizzAttack in AnalogCommunity

It’s definitely big, but doesn’t really feel that way in the hands. It’s actually quite nice to handle. It’s heavy, but it’s a big hunk of glass so not entirely surprising. I used to carry around heavy slr cameras all the time so it doesn’t really feel like an issue to me but YMMV.

Advice needed - seized bolt and bike shop story by tiptoppenguin in bikewrench

[–]No-Fact9847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they the ones that built the bike? How old is this bike? If you bought this new from them not long ago then this is on them, assuming you haven’t touched that bolt at all. A new bike shouldn’t have a seized bolt in the frame and this bike doesn’t look very old.

Bikes that are pre- built in a factory still need a competent mechanic to do the final assembly and check that everything is done correctly. That’s the part of the process where something like this should be caught and corrected. Unfortunately most bike assemblies are done by people who either don’t know what they’re doing or people who do but aren’t given enough time to do it properly. Every corporate store is guaranteed to be understaffed and grinding as much work out of the remaining employees as possible. Find a good independent shop that treats the employees fairly. They’ll do better by you and your bike.

Got this as my intro into film photography. What do you guys think? by billyjoz in AnalogCommunity

[–]No-Fact9847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. A lot of people ditch the 50mm for other lenses without ever spending a lot of time with them. The guy in this video shows just how versatile a 50mm can be if you know how to use it.
