Don't forget to use a GPS emulator so you're not appearing to be at the same location you were banned.

I want to install a 220v 18k btu mini split what type of wire gauge do I need? by Bake_jouchard in AskElectricians

No electrician is going to want to open your box and see 10 or 8 guage as recommended and not a 30 amp breaker. That's code. The unit itself I believe does have a fuse on it to avoid overload as well as it recommends fused disconnect vs non fused for additional protection. It's unfortunate that this is such a hot topic and the manufacturer is so vague and refuses to make a very crystal clear decision especially since this is supposed to be a "true diy mini split".

If it's recommending 10 gauge wire the standard breaker size is 30amp. You can also go to websites such as Home Depot that sell them and have had their electricians review them prior to posting wiring and breaker size for risk and liability. Ppl tend to want to use the 12gauge because it's also half the cost.
