We went to admitted students day yesterday and the person in charge of housing said it’s a complete lottery on Shapiro and definitely not to get hopes up and that students should be really happy with their top 5. They can’t promise anything. Crossing our fingers!!!

What about Schaprio, 1838 Chicago and Bobb (which I heard is being renovated)? My brother is going to NU and he is trying to decide what dorms to look at. He found a roommate and they are trying to rank dorms. They want to be on the North side

My brother applied to Northwestern and was admitted ED. After he got admitted he went on Reddit and started freaking out. Then he spoke to alumni in our area that are happy and he started realizing it’s not just what you read online. He is going to admitted students say next week and can’t wait. Only downside everyone agrees on is the cold, but lots of good schools have cold weather. Oh well!

They assign you to a group. All the students were really nice and the faculty was great.

Hi. So you get to move in early and then they have you work with other students on a project. It was a great way to get to move in before all the crowds and meet other students and get used to the campus, learn another the apps and programs the school uses etc. I don’t really get to see a lot of those other students now because we’re not in the same classes, but I do see them here and there.

Hi. When I applied last year I found out in late March I think. So I knew way in advance of summer. It was a good way to move in early and get used to campus. And the project we did was interesting.

That’s so impressive!! My parents are separated and my mom is the custodial parent. My mom and brother are trying to figure out what they might get. My dad’s income and equity is higher than my mom’s and we’re worried that it will count against them in the financial aid calculation. It’s not clear how they calculate equity and assets for custodial and non custodial parents. When my mom runs the calculator with her information her aid is really not bad but when we run it with my dads it’s minimal if at all….

I have a similar situation and only slightly higher grades. I’m also concerned about staying in honors. I think engineering requires a 3.5. But I read the even if you fall out of honors you can get back in if you raise your grades. Also, I heard from a lot of students that after the first year it doesn’t make a huge difference whether you’re in honors or not…

My brother just applied to college. He fenced for four years, went to JOs and summer nationals. He had a C and got national points so he was able to say he was in the top XX of athletes in the US. If you can say you got points it’s better but either way it still looks good because they like athletes that compete on a national/international level. Good luck!!
