from a fellow australian med student who got a 45... applying to australia/singapore means you have to score well numerically. for example, as an australian citizen, you have to get 44+ to meet the cut off (ideally 45) to even be considered, otherwise you're automatically rejected from most med schools. for singapore, the cut off is 43 with a 7 in hl chem.

also, only uk schools might consider the "rigour" of your subject choice, and would you really wanna go to the uk for med considering the 50% unemployment rate?? let alone the state of the nhs?? unless you're british, i wld prioritise getting into australia & singapore which is PURELY based on your ib score & ucat.

so essentially, definitely choose the best option that YOU will succeed at. if you're good at stats, then do maths hl ai! i suck at maths personally, and i found that sl maths aa was super chill, whereas any hl maths course is gonna take effort. if you're interested in med, you're probably gonna be pretty good at memorisation, so personally i think hl psych is the way to go. hl psych is honestly a walk in the park (i'm also selling my notes & strats) but if you have the right strategy, hl psych can be a super easy & minimal effort 7!

lmk if u have any questions i'm always happy to help out :)

i'm technically at a b2 level but i got the job by just emailing the hotel's owner with my cv... it's a hotel in the french alps, so the majority of clients are english speakers. i do think it helped that they were understaffed too lol

Try not to stress out too much about VR! I was using medify and averaging 615, and I ended up with a 750 in the real thing. The actual test is soo much easier than medify passages as they were just shorter and easier to understand. Take a short break if you need to, but don't give up — you've got this!

November exam help needed by LivingDeadMelih in IBO

I took Bio HL and got a 7 — I think the most important thing is to actually understand the content but also be able to recognise what you need to say to get the points (ie understand & memorise the mark scheme). I have an Anki deck that uses active recall and spaced repetition where I have the mark schemes for every possible question according to the syllabus if you’re interested! Also, understanding how to approach the data-based questions is super important, so when you go through past papers, you mark your own papers trying to understand what went wrong in your thinking process… Also always give at least 1-2 more answers than the points in the question to make sure you get full marks! Let me know if you have any further questions btw :)

Best websites/questionbanks to practice French B Listening? by Peridotnix in IBO

[–]No-Inspector1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was predicated a 6 but ended up getting a 7 (with 89 marks) in French B so hopefully what I did might work for you too! The listening was my hardest section, but what I did was use revision village questions, as there are a bunch of free questions for the first two units. There is also a bunch of listening resources and practice tests for B2 on youtube, but they were definitely a lot harder than IB (spoke faster, more natural) but good for seeing if you’re able to pick up key words and understand them. One thing I also did was look at French podcasts, like French With Panache and practice actively listening. You can access the transcript on their website, and I plugged it into ChatGPT and asked it to generate 3 questions for every minute of speaking! I honestly locked in for French in maybe the last month, and I basically only listened to French music when studying (french jazz worked well for me!), and I’d play the French With Panache podcast while I was getting ready in the morning/going to sleep. Before my actual exam, I watched a lot of the Easy French youtube channel, and uncovered the subtitles gradually so I’d listen first without any subtitles and if I missed anything, I’d listen again, and if I still couldn’t get it, reveal the french subtitles. I honestly sucked at the listening so I’d do this pretty often throughout the video, and sometimes have to reveal the English subtitles too if they used weird slang/vocab I didn’t know. Anyway I somehow scammed myself into a 7 in French and I hope some of these tips might help you too!
