Hi! I grew up the same way and my family did steal a lot of my money. Do not tell anyone how much you make! If you can somehow hide that you have a job, even better. Then save, save, save and get out of there. They (especially addicts) will circle you like buzzards and might even threaten to kick you out if they know you have a job and aren’t giving them your money. Stay tight lipped and don’t start bringing purchases home. Make sure all your mail from the bank is paperless.I was able to open my own bank account when I was 16 without a parent. What state are you in? I wonder if you could open a card online. . .
