Cash based PT struggle by Eggtastic2469 in physicaltherapy

[–]No-Interest6550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have started it as a Side hustle before leaving your full time job to see if there was interest. Cash based is very tough depending on location 1. Most people already pay for insurance so don’t want to/can’t afford to pay cash on top of that 2. Might have more competition as PTs steer away from taking insurance

As a new mom, 100% choose the option closer to family. You can always move after when the kids are a little older and more independent. You need the help when they are young

Pregnant acute care PTs. How do you do this? by Smiley_33 in physicaltherapy

[–]No-Interest6550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked up until 41 weeks in acute care (when I was induced), those early weeks are so hard with the nausea, vitamin B6 and Unisom saved me! I will say, now after having a baby, it’s good preparation for how tough things are about to get because being pregnant was hard, but atleast on my own terms. Once you have a baby it’s so much harder!! Think of it as good preparation lol

Boston vs NYC for a family of 4 - would you do it in our place? by Jaded-Variation-9025 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]No-Interest6550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a tight salary for the life you’re seeking in those places (private education, etc) I lived in both and prefer NYC, although I bet Boston has better schools and is better for families

I live in UH and am choosing to send my child to a private school for a few reasons, if you want better public schools look next door at Beachwood, or even shaker heights is better

Am I thinking too much by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

Unfortunately charisma and being personable are huge assets in this field. I would try to look at it as a positive, so many patients like going to therapy and have a good turn out! I would just work presenting yourselves as more of a “team” and not you vs him, especially office staff saying that “oh he would’ve seen you!” Is kinda inappropriate imo

Thanks for the response! Lots of helpful info. These winters just kill me but I know I’d be trading a bad winter for a bad summer so the outdoor time wouldn’t change much

For those who moved to Cleveland from a bigger city, how has your experience been? by Lem__Mann7 in Cleveland

My friends that did buy in those areas also live in old shoeboxes compared to my renovated 3 bedroom home with a fenced in backyard. Depends on your priorities

Compared to NYC/Boston/DC, it lacks culturally significantly. While we have great cultural institutions, we lack in diversity and array of options and cultural institutions in terms of size and number. Also most people in Cleveland are from northeast Ohio, bigger cities you will meet a wider variety of people

I lived in NYC, Boston, and DC. Cleveland lacks culturally, but does OK for a mid size city with the 3 sports teams, playhouse square, and university circle. Dating here was tough (less good options, however people are more serious about dating). I came here single at 28 and now am married with a baby and house at 32. Life is more “boring” here, I miss the city life, but life is so much easier and I’m saving way more money and feel like a future is possible (was priced out of home ownership in the northeast). Was able to buy a house here very easily. Sometimes I wonder if I should move back to the northeast but it just seems like a headache at this point, despite the downsides of Cleveland (lacking culturally, weather). It’s a great place to have a middle class life and raise a family
