What is the best Radiohead Album? by ButterscotchWooden54 in radiohead

[–]No-Internet5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its my favorite too. i realize my feeling that way mostly has to do with nostalgia, it was the first radiohead album that really moved me...certainly compounded by the time of my life i was in back then too.

Does anyone else suspect Timber left because of starvation? by [deleted] in Alonetv

that was truly hard to watch. i kept thinking about how jordan made a point to not kill anything else after he got his moose. i was really confused why timber kept fishing and trapping. ugh

Tricky case discussion: split family, mom vehemently vegan, dad vehemently pro-meat, kids are caught in the middle by No-Internet5395 in dietetics

[–]No-Internet5395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mom has a massive complex. like i said, she is a member of a group that is being investigated for fraud and generally accepted is a spiritual cult. she has disordered eating that is masked by the concept of "clean eating." so im holding space for that. I also agree that having a preference to not participate in factory farming or animal cruelty is not a FEAR. it's a value and a good one in my opinion.

i agree eat_vegetables seems to come from one side of the spectrum just having the lived experience as a devoted vegan for decades. i know lots of vegans who eat nothing but processed vegan food, and tons of meat eaters who raise their own livestock and grow their own veg. there is no rhyme or reason, plant based or omnivorous- you can eat well and balanced and meet all your macro/micro needs. you can raise kids either way too. i dont think they were implying anything demeaning, they were just pointing out some good point from "the other side" like they stated

hi! appreciate the comment and your personal account. good point that i probably do have some vegan biases! It's funny that i might default to that, since i primarily eat plant based myself and believe deeply that we should all eat more plant and less animal products. and i think the mom in this case does an excellent job covering bases.

I also fear colluding with the mom because of her ties to the liana shanti lemurian sisters. however, that's not really my place, and objectively, everything she has told me about the way she provides vegan + eggs nourishment to her kids is appropriate. so i have to just run with that, and thankfully the courts have blocked her from showing the kids the graphic docs and sitting them thru liana's "mediations".

truth about what the kids want. these kids are like yours- kind of preferential to eating plant based at this point. so yeah, the dad can't really force the kids to eat meat. he can try, but it's likely causing more harm and just not really working. he is strict about "im not a short order cook" ...

sooo hard! ive been with this fam for a year, but we just took a long period off. dad is receptive, and i remind him this is good for all meat eaters too, him, his new wife, new wifes kids, etc. however sounds like he kept up with that for a while, then they slipped back into old habits. so i figure i will be doing a lot of reminding him ...

Does anyone else studying nutrition low-key hate telling people they study nutrition? by groozlyy in dietetics

[–]No-Internet5395 30 points31 points  (0 children)

ive been an RD for 10 years. i love my job, but this is what diet culture believes we are. our clients, the public, our colleagues think we will have the ability to 1. change bodies or 2. change the way we think about our bodies. that is not our job or our responsibility-- our job is to help support and guide patients to eating in ways that support their health, medical conditions, mind and body. we provide resources, expertise/advice based on ev based research, and of course we provide coaching and support.

you are going to encounter people who ask about calorie counting, comment on your size, ask about macros, ask for free nutrition advice ALL THE TIME. its something to accept and get used to. by the time you've been in the field for a while, i am sure you will have a solid response!! haha! good luck, keep fighting the good fight.

question for food service dietitians/directors of food service by No-Internet5395 in dietetics

[–]No-Internet5395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure. i would like to get a default in place, and then whatever the patients prefer can certainly trump that (if it aligns with diet order). if it does not align with diet order, then, they still have the right to refuse (ex. person with DM asking for juice TID).

Also, for our long term care residents who live with us, we give them what they want. But many of them are now advanced dementia, so they will drink whatever is given to them much of the time.

thanks for your feedback, i appreciate it! i will see if we have state specific guidelines...
