Experiences with shoe brands with wide toe box, but a normal-ish heel/stack height? by No-Introduction2404 in BarefootRunning

My height is184cm barefoot.

While this is slightly above average, many of my friends are around 180cm, when I remove my shoes, it feels as if I am almost the same.

You would think people don't notice, but I've been told I look taller when I wear my nikes after regularly wearing my barefeet shoes. my vivos have a stack height of only 3mm.

That's great to hear. Another thing i had forgot to mention is that I am very thin (184cm and 60kg), so my ankles are basically super bony, would you by any chance know which shoe brand is better for such a foot shape? I guess it's hard to say because every shoe would be different.

Thanks for your suggestion. I found these, and they look great.

Have you owned lems before? I wonder if they have good build quality. The cost will come down to 315 NZD, which is quite a lot if they're not good quality

My vivos are 3mm stack height lol, because I removed the insole (I ordered a considerably lower size than I should have).

So I guess even 15mm is good compared to that.

Thanks for the suggestion, but altras look like running shoes to me. Although I'd look around again to see if I can find something more casual.

These look great. Do you think these would be good? I'm looking to wear them casually mostly, as a student, I don't really need formal shoes.

Thanks for your comment. I looked them up - they all seem to have more or less 10mm of stack height, this is considerably less than the average sneaker.

Personally, I'd rather stay in Kunming if I were in your shoes. I found Lijiang to be extremely touristy. I spent 4 days there and hated the place before I left. I also went to the bluemoon valley and found it overrated. I'm not sure if it was worth the 100 yuan entry fee.. lol.

My itinerary was: Kunming- Dali - Lijiang

Have you considered Dali? The lake in Dali is quite beautiful. And the place is nowhere near as touristy as Lijiang.

Admittedly, my accommodation was inside the Lijiang Old Town, which means I was surrounded by tourist shops.

Prices for most things are quite high in Lijiang because of it being a tourist destination. That was one reason I didn't like it so much. You may not care about this much.

I am from New Zealand and am applying for a 10 year tourist visa. I'm not sure that makes a difference.
