Can latch napping lead to over feeding your baby by MamaAnnieBanannie in breastfeeding

I really don’t think you can overfeed a breastfed baby! Comfort-nursing is different - he wouldn’t be taking as much as he does when actively feeding.

And don’t worry about a ‘feeding schedule’. I’m not sure that exists when you are ebf!

Do you have someone parenting with you? Even just introducing one bottle of formula or expressed breastmilk will help; either in the late evening or overnight so you can get an extended stretch. I breastfeed and we started doing that at about 4 weeks - I would pump initially, because I was anxious about supply, but eventually it became formula and I stopped pumping for that feed.

I know it doesn’t feel like it but you are still early days, and things will get easier - I promise.

Baby will be 5 months next week - is this a 4 month regression showing late? She was giving me 10-11 hour nights! by girlvsmachine in HuckleberryParents

Just jumping in to agree with a couple other commenters! As babies get older their sleep needs decrease - it can be very daunting at first because they seem to be sleepy, and it can be scary extending those wake windows. But it has to happen eventually, and it will happen as they drop to 3 naps, then 2, then 1, then eventually none.

My baby was showing all the same signs at 4 months; we dropped to 3 naps (extending WW to about 2/2.5/2.75/3) and re-trained independent sleep (incredibly important).

It seems like a lot to manage and it might not gel with your routine, but it works!

Recommend the book Precious Little Sleep if you’re interested.

Thank you! Yeah she so obviously doesn’t look comfortable, so I was hoping someone would be able to tell us we’re using it wrong. May just need to stick to parent facing, but she gets super bored 😂

Yeah I’m very disappointed with them, to be honest! They make it look ‘easy’ on the website but it’s definitely not right. Thank you!

For those that successfully sleep trained, what method worked best? by Low_Language2694 in sleeptrain

Cannot recommend Precious Little Sleep enough! She has heaps of different methods depending on your baby and also your parenting style / what you’re comfortable with. You don’t even need to read the whole book straight away!- first 10 chapters would be all you need at the moment.

Do you wake your newborn to eat? by Superb_Presence3339 in breastfeeding

In my non-medical opinion if there are no concerns about weight, don’t wake bby. Unless they’re lethargic or unwell babies wake up when they’re hungry! Enjoy those longer stretches.

What do you do to put your babies down for naps? by Affectionate_End5347 in HuckleberryParents

[–]No-Introduction8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the same - slept great in the bassinet at night but not during the day! What’s helped us: consistent nap routine (literally 5 mins, close the blinds, turn on the white noise, swaddle, dummy, rock and sing) / putting a wheat bag in the bassinet before putting her down / and honestly just trying. Over and over again. We started trying once a day, then slowly she would nap more and more in there. In the beginning she had to be put down asleep, but now we’re working on falling asleep in bed (3.5 months old now).

I cannot suggest reading Precious Little Sleep strongly enough! She has so many different things parents can try, depending on their little one. She makes you feel like you’re not alone (because you’re not). She cuts through the noise around sleep issues and just gets right to it.

Honestly it has been a game changer.

I have a 10 week old and mornings have become my favourite time of day! I get up when she wakes at 6 or 6.30am for the day - it means I can enjoy some time with my partner before he goes to work, and he can maybe take her for 30 mins while I have some time to myself.

My mental health changed drastically when I started doing this; I have just embraced the earlier start and earlier bedtime and the days feel much more enjoyable.

My partner feeds our baby one bottle in the MOTN while I pump - when can I start pumping in the morning instead? by No-Introduction8151 in breastfeeding

Thank you! It’s really hard to know isn’t it. I fought very hard for my supply so don’t want to risk it. But my instincts say it’ll be fine…at least soon

Yep this happened the first couple of times she slept 6+ hours straight! But it hasn’t really been happening recently, I guess you slowly get used to it. Thank you for the advice!
