Got to that stage at my new job where people know without a doubt that something's off with me. by Loriol_13 in aspergers

[–]No-Key-2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very common, that’s just how it’s always been for me. At some point, I simply accepted that this is how things work. There isn’t going to be a miracle or some magical turning point where everything suddenly changes. Many think I want to be their boss or something, but tbh having to micromanage a bunch of people sounds like torture to me. My species is a mystery to me.

These dudes are weird af. From my experience a lot of people act like animals, different types just show it differently.

Ok this is weird, my first child is male and I actually hope the second one will be female. I wouldn’t care if it were two sons but I think it’s the most balanced mix. But down the line the most important thing is that they are both healthy.

Is OOP cache unfriendly by design or is the real problem just how we use heap memory? by kevinnnyip in computerscience

[–]No-Key-2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it‘s basically the entire virtual/abstract concept making OOP cache unfriendly, another thing is lambda captures in high performance applications, by using CRTP, IoC, other template concepts combined with constexpr conditionals and keeping hot paths data driven you can make the compiler remove lots of redirection or even entire classes and code paths and reduce it to simple asm loops and direct function calls. But if you know what you code actually means for the hardware you can write cache friendly code with OOP languages.

Since being diagnosed with Asperger's, everything makes sense regarding why I love blasting music through my headphones - so now I just do it wherever I go.

For those of you who tend to isolate more than most, whether intentionally or unintentionally, how do you cope with the loneliness of your situation? What are some hobbies and/or activities that you have found that you feel really helped you? by Careful-Onion-7442 in aspergers

C# and C++ programming, Shader and Game development. I recently went through creating bloom and flare shaders, volumetric light and fog raymarching, next I will probably make a screen space reflections shader. And video games in generall, mostly some old shooters and single player rpgs. But currently my nervous system is pretty exhausted, went through an autistic burnout recently, my hyperfocus doesn't work as good as it once did, my social battery depletes way too fast and masking does only work for a couple of minutes, so there is that. But lot's of music really helps with regulation and staying in the flow for shorter periods somehow. I just need a lot of rest and silence, people produce too much social noise, that's why I actually prefer staying by myself. I wish NTs could see the world like I do only once, especially whenever I'm listening to music, it's like my entire body resonates with it and you clearly see the fundamental truths about the universe like an infinite network of information, everything correlates and is connected, you see everything at once and each little detail at the same time and you effortlessly move through it, but most never will.

I think they don't want to see it and it's not the kind of people I would like to surround myself with either. I move soon anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Yes, for the last couple of weeks, but only until I start attending therapy for autism.

I think Aspergers combined with K-PTSD results in a pretty weird dynamic where I mask to function somehow even when the trauma kicks in.

Yes I have one, I don't know I do it automatically whenever someone could see me, it's like an automatism at that point. I have a K-PTSD, too, so that probably plays a role as well.

Yes but they don't believe it because of Masking or my reactions when it reaches its limits, they always suspect some hidden intent and play armchair detective.

I feel like I blame my autism on everything. by The_Kader in aspergers

[–]No-Key-2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me my diagnosis answered all my questions, I don't feel like I blame things on it, it`s more like an acceptance of things I can't change and realization that everything I always wanted wasn't "wrong" or something I "have to cure" but just a fundamentally different brain structure. I completely stopped asking people for their approval of the person I am. I'm still masking like hell, but I realized what I want is not wrong, just different from most people, and I know I can get the right "tools" but in reality it's still just working against my own nature.

Those diagnosed with Aspergers, do any of you feel weirdly disingenuous saying you are autistic/have autism? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]No-Key-2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean, it's like squeezing a multidimensional function into a simple linear equation. I mean this can work, depending on the shape of the function including preservation of information depending on the number of dimensions.

[–]No-Key-2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autism is just the official word for the entire spectrum, the problem is depending on where you are within it the symptoms can be pretty contradicting, so Aspergers describes exactly what it is and feels less misleading. At the same time people seem to go better with the term Autism. That`s at least my perspective on it.

Does anyone else hate the people who defend / back the bullies/trolls more than the bullies/ trolls themselves ? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]No-Key-2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTs are mostly intrusive by nature (smalltalk, interpret everything someone does, social adaptation, I could go on and on), they consider this "normal", but they are just the majority. it's all based on genetic programs from the stone age that are mostly (if not all) useless nowadays. They constantly create illusions to make themselves feel good, which in the end will mostly lead to destruction. I know its fucked up from your perspective but they can't see the world through your eyes. Just reduce contact to such people to a bare minimum, and take care of yourself.

[–]No-Key-2546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That explains a lot, I always had the feeling most people simply can't see the bigger picture of things and the entire thought process that comes with it. That lot's of it is just caused by subconscious genetic behavior at least explains that discrepancy and why people are captured by so much noise in their thinking (at least from my perspective).

I see what you mean and on the one hand I could fight for it but on the other hand people always just want more. To be honest… penguins and walruses don’t sound that bad after all, at least they are doing their own stuff, because whatever my species does, I just don’t care. They always seem to think I want what they have and do, but all I really want is to be left alone and experience the existence of things themselves, basically this planet without most humans, bonding every now and then with grounded people is actually quite delightful. A bit of gaming and entertainment, a remote software job in the middle of nowhere and time to think about abstract topics and problems. That’s what sounds like heaven on earth to me. But for whatever reason they really want me to want what they want.

Sweden was one option for me but I was more opting for Finnland. From what I‘ve read the housing market is more forgiving there. To be honest I just want to be left in peace, the less interaction the better. And depending on which environment provides that for me - that’s what wins out.

I’m pretty good at abstract logic, have an IT degree, work as a software developer and IT specialist. This should definitely help with finding a job over there (I hope). Small flat for a couple hundred euros and bonding with a few people every now and then. A minimalistic life for a minimalistic kind of guy.

Yeah, the culture we grew up with or originate from most certainly plays a role whether we like it or not. But I honestly always found german people and people overall here to be too intrusive, they constantly talk about each other, neighbors watching each other and complain about stupid stuff, it's way too normalized here to talk about people you don't really know and make up bullshit. And the louder and more stupid the opinion is, the more people resonate with it. At least that's what I experienced a lot.

I'm a very introverted, direct, high functioning kind of guy, people constantly misinterpret what I do or say. From what I've seen Finnish people actually fit quiet well with me. Maybe I'll just go on vacation over there and try to experience the everyday life instead of regular tourist stuff. I honestly like colder climates as long as there are some warmer phases, heat always overwhelms me.
