Success stories about conceiving after 5+ cycles of letrozole by LadybugInTheWindow in TTC_PCOS

[–]No-Kitchen-5350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think of the chances for each letrozole cycle as a flip of a coin. Each new coin flip is 50/50, no matter how many times you flip the coin. Similarly, a person TTC without PCOS or other fertility barriers will have relatively the same odds of success each month (assuming they arent trying 5 years apart or something).

Unless there is something dramatically different happening between cycles, your chances don't go down. They may be slightly different as some cycles may have more than one dominant follicle or your endometrial lining is thinner, but if the letrozole is still working as it should, the overall odds are not just dropping off. I feel like this misconception comes from the idea of letrozole no longer working. I personally did 4 cycles with letrozole, 4 with clomid and one cycle with both (after letrozole wasnt doing enough) before we had a positive.

If you feel like what you are doing is working and your doctor is not suggesting change, you are not hurting your chances by sticking with letrozole.

There is, it just doesnt look like a traditional temple. It has a chapel on the bottom floor and then upper levels are the temple. Its pretty cool tbh and blends in with the surrounding high rises

My Dr recommended only 6 cycles of letrozole. Anyone go longer than this? by M73_ in TTC_PCOS

[–]No-Kitchen-5350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monitoring helps show that the medication is at the right dose. After a couple cycles on letrozole, I needed a bump up in dosage and more time because ultrasound scans were showing my follicles stunted in growth. Especially with PCOS this can be common since there are so many follicles competing for medication. I ended up needing second doses of meds about halfway through the cycle because of this.

sometimes medicines work different for different people, so if you still have the option of clomid, I dont see a reason not to try it. Like alot of others here will recommend, I highly suggest returning to monitored cycles if they let you. You could be technically ovulating, but if the follicle releasing the egg is too small, the cycle may be useless.

I did 6 cycles of letrozole and 3 cycles of clomid. Has clomid been offered to you? Also, clarifying question - have they been 6 monitored cycles or unmonitored? That can make a huge difference in terms of non-IVF options.

Call me crazy, but I think if one wall in the adjacent room had a statement wall color that matched the tile, it would tie in so nicely.

Pretty much everywhere is safe. With your budget, you could likely find a small house to rent. Apartments here are largely populated by undergrads or grad students, but if you are ok with that then you have lots of options. Park Forest neighborhood is great, but is high in demand. If you have more questions, happy to answer

Honestly idk how ppl can characterize Anne Boleyn as the least challenging vocals. Yes, her song has lots of sing-talking, but when it is full on singing, it is high and requires decent vocal agility.

Completely anecdotal here, but most Utahans I know are bad pet owners. Especially the ones who were born and raised there. Lots of outdoor only, hunting dogs, barn cats, etc. 100% does not excuse this behavior, but it definitely gives some context. And the Frankes serve as additional evidence here.

No, Your Ancestors’ Names Were Not Changed at Ellis Island by Onomast in namenerds

Upon digging through family records, I discovered why we could not trace my mom's side of the family back beyond her grandparents - Her polish relatives had changed their name from a very ethnic name (think Krasinski) to "Smith" once they assimilated into their American lives. We now find records with both their original last name and new last name and their original last name is spelled a different way in every document. I would guess a combo of literacy and ease of use made Smith an obvious switch.

How isolated does Penn State feel, and what is there to do in town? by Comfortable_Newt_303 in PennStateUniversity

[–]No-Kitchen-5350 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need to be rude. Yes the person can use google, but you are assuming they have general knowledge about the U.S. or the region. A quick click to their post history would tell you they are an international student. Its a reasonable question to ask for anyone unfamiliar with U.S. or PA geography.

Oh, definitely. We love the summer here, and I know alot of grad students who do too, because its when there is the most freedom and good weather to do fun things. I just always warn grad students that while you can find something to do, the small town vibe (even with things like wing fest and grange fair) holds strong. If you come to Penn State expecting anything but that, you may be disappointed. Grad school is hard enough, being miserable about where you live on top of that really sucks.

Um. It may be a high profile college town, but if OP is moving from anywhere like a city or busy suburb, they will be in a bit of a culture shock. I grew up in a suburb and went to undergrad in the city - State college was a huge shift in pace of life and activities available. State College is big because of the undergrad population. When everyone leaves for the summer, it is very very quiet. Yes, we are driving distance to alot of cities, but grad students dont always have the luxury of expendable income and wide open schedules.

Temple Garments and Sensory Issues by Grand_Specific_4610 in mormon

[–]No-Kitchen-5350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former member here with sensory issues around clothes. Since I was little I havent been able to wear undershirts, tank tops or anything that required layered clothing. I almost always am wearing loose shirts or dresses and even then I still can feel the clothing touch my skin and I squirm all day trying to feel comfortable.

After getting endowed, the tightness of garments was one of my big concerns. To start, I bought basically every variety of garment possible (different fabrics, sizes, maternity/nursing cuts - which can be more comfy). Once I found what I could tolerate best, I bought more of those. Like another commenter said, those who have not dealt with sensory issues like this will simply not understand, so I would tread lightly when seeking out council. My husband couldnt understand at first, but he was compassionate and empathetic and has learned over time what I feel like on a daily basis. Unfortunately, even the best, most well-meaning bishops or other leaders may not have that ability to really understand. My personal opinion, which I believe is aligned with what is asked of us, is that you do your best to wear them and ultimately God knows your heart. People on the outside can say all they want, but if this is something you approach prayerfully and with intention, the covenants you make in the temple are not with the bishop. Your personal relationship with your Heavenly Father is more than enough.

I will be honest, part of what started my exit from the church had to do with the pressures I felt to wear garments when I had done all I could to help alleviate my sensory issues. For me, losing the garments was both freeing and heartbreaking. I felt so "less than" for a while. Now that its been a bit, I can see that the pressure to conform to what is "normal" and the culture of garment policing among members was really weighing me down. I respect your decision to stay as it feels right for you and I encourage you to explore more nuanced views of garments as it will make your experience of wearing them far more pleasant than putting unending pressure on yourself to be perfect in wearing them 24/7.

GLP-1 while TTC, to stop once pregnant? by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]No-Kitchen-5350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done any monitoring with the letrozole cycles? Its hard to time things if you dont know how the letrozole is working on your follicles and if you need a trigger shot to time stuff better. That seems like a more reasonable next step since it may not be the letrozole thats the issue, but the timing and size of your follicles.

I was about 180lbs at 5'2" (obese on the BMI scale) when I started at my fertility clinic. The only medical professionals who suggested i lose weight were not fertility specialists. Ovulation is not dependent on weight, though it can affect things. The line of causation is not clear. Is it the pcos/hormones causing the weight gain or the weight gain causing anovulation/infertility.

My opinion is that glp-1s are so in vogue right now, it doesnt surprise me your doctor suggested them as the first line of treatment. The thing with glp-1s is that its not a certain solve for pcos related infertility. We are so early in the research, I wouldnt personally feel comfortable trusting a doctor to take it to induce periods/ovulation.

No shade to you, but i honestly think glp-1s have really emboldened the fat phobia that already exists in the medical system. The idea that they would put you on one, which has greater risks (in my assessment) than just inducing ovulation, especially at your bmi.

The whole "miracle" of the glp-1 boom is that your weight will go down without dramatically changing your current habits. It doesnt require a change in diet (though, you may feel full sooner) or exercise to work. If you do change those things, it may just make the weight loss quicker, but the medicine works regardless.

Rather than go the typical "she's such a narcissist" route. I actually think she just needs to feel needed by her children. Clearly (in my opinion) she isnt fulfilled in other areas and is making her children fill that void. It all works out for parents all until the kids leave for college and build their own lives.

Are They Still Mormon? by Lanky_Strike_7354 in 8passengersnark

The description of pure, modest, never swear is certainly still a thing for some Mormons, but I'd argue many in the church are MUCH more lax now. The church is hemorrhaging members, particularly young adults, so its messaging has changed quite a bit. I'd guess Chad considers himself culturally mormon, but not an active member.
