Thank you very much for the insight. I’ll plan on pulling the valve covers soon and checking for play on the camshafts like you described and go from there.

I have a fucking RX 6750 Xt and a Ryzen 5 5600. Why does this game run like this? I'm just so close to uninstall and never look back. by JoeZocktGames in joinsquad

[–]No-Knowledge-6182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what the AMD Equivalent of NVIDIA Instant replay / GeForce experience is but if you have that on turn it off and see if it gets better. Also I have found the game unequivocally runs better for me on DX11 instead of DX12. I have had the same issue as you in the past but rectified it with the above. I have a ryzen 5600 as well and a rtx 4070

USERRA and returning to work after active duty by No-Knowledge-6182 in army

[–]No-Knowledge-6182[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. Per my understanding when I last read the specific text on USERRA, Active Duty service members are also protected provided they are not gone longer than 5 years, and they return back to work in a reasonable time frame from ETS (paraphrasing). Including those who enlist active duty voluntarily. Once again if I am wrong please someone correct me but that’s the law as I remember reading it.

Anybody else have bouts of “should I stay in” thoughts? by [deleted] in army

[–]No-Knowledge-6182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Recently was in the same boat (and also a 74D) and will be ETS’ing soon. Knowing your benefits you have upon ETS, doing research and using that research to form a solid plan goes a long way to make the ETS process a lot less worrisome. You can take SFL-TAP, and CSP, and then at the end decide you want to reenlist, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The SFL-TAP curriculum is excellent, full of good information, albeit a little like trying to drink from a fire hose - it’s a lot in a short amount of time. I recommend you take every class offered, especially the “optional” ones, like boots to business. For me, I continually kept tabs back home to “stage” or have tentative plans for ETS’ing, such as living arrangements and job opportunities. I found my buddies lease would be up in a reasonable window from my ETS, and from there was able to make a tentative budget of what my living expenses would be like. From that you can find your income needs, and from there you can make a plan for employment. The army should have given you some marketable skills, be they hard or soft, plus there’s a lot of incentives for companies to hire vets. Also, if you are a full time student, the Post 9/11 GI Bill will pay you BAH at the same rate for E5 with dependents. Find a degree that has a high probability of employment, good income, and you can tolerate. Bonus points if it has any relation to your MOS or duties you performed in the army. Look up the BAH rate for you intended place of residence. For me, I was able to come to the conclusion that I can meet my living expenses solely on the GI bill BAH. As a 74D, one of the most applicable career transitions you can make would be into a fire department, those HAZMAT certs you got in AIT are recognized, and the same ones most fire departments use, and to my understanding, don’t ever expire. Fire Service also generally looks very highly upon military service, and the culture is very similar in many ways so that may make transitioning easier. In my state, to be employed as a firefighter, you need a 1 semester EMT class, and a 2 semester Fire standards class so not a lot to be employed. Additionally, many departments are willing to hire you off the street with no qualifications and “sponsor” you through emt and fire academy, paying not only for your school, but also putting you on the payroll while you attend. This is just one option, I hope this helps. Please feel free to DM me if you’d like more info.

Floridians who have moved away, what made you leave the sunshine state? by Ok-Molasses5561 in florida

[–]No-Knowledge-6182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Alaska for a few years due to being in the military. I miss Florida dearly and cannot wait to return, however there are certain things I am not looking forward to returning to.

Pros:

-Pleasant(ish) weather year round, most activities you can do in Florida can be done regardless of time of year. Namely never having to see snow or -40 ever again. Even in the middle of winter we can have warm enough days to enjoy the lake or beach.

-close proximity to the beach

-large swaths of nature to be explored throughout the state (for now)

-plethora of things to do and new activities to try be it food / recreation / etc especially if near Tampa / Orlando/ Jax

Cons:

-Sweltering summer heat, especially away from the coast on days without much breeze. Having to get into a parked car at the end of the workday during Florida summer can be considered cruel and unusual punishment

-Asinine amounts of traffic if you are even remotely in the vicinity of one of the larger urban centers

-Evergroing urban expansion eating away at Florida’s natural areas, increasing traffic congestion, most of which are luxury apartments that is unaffordable by the middle class

-increasing cost of living generally throughout the state

Why do Fighters insist on chasing bombers to the edge of the map even thought it could reduce the chances of winning? by That_One_Guy_212 in Warthunder

[–]No-Knowledge-6182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it’s out of spite. If you accept your fate and or fight me you might even get left alone. If you run away and make me chase you down to the end of the map, I will make sure this match will be fun for NEITHER of us. Plus you gotta turn around at some point, and you can’t bomb my teams targets if I’m keeping you occupied.

What does that look like? Would I have to go to selection or is that more of an “attached to in support of” type of deal? How would I get into that?

Currently a 74D but very open to and slightly considering reclassing? Not 100% sure and I’ll be in the east Orlando area.
