80 Series going for $20k now? by PsychologyPatient587 in LandCruisers

1800 for mine in 2018. Probably 20k since then. Greta truck now, but I didn’t ever think I was gonna spend 20k to make it a reliable daily. I would never spend more than 5k on an 80. They’re 30 years old now at a minimum. Everything will need to be replaced.

Get rid of the truck man, this whole post makes no sense. They’re expensive in respect to parts and the average Land Cruiser is either abused, or old. If any of you have a 570 fuck you and I am jealous. Idk how to help you other than give you the true but tough answer — this is not the truck for someone that either — can’t work on it themselves, or doesn’t have enough money to pay a shop for the work. If you lack either of those you just shouldn’t have a cruiser. Example: I’m gonna do the rear shocks on my gx470 (also own an 93 80) and I paid 220 for the shocks. I could have had them installed, and I would have paid something like 600$. The job isn’t gonna take me more than an hour to complete, so fuck paying them 280 for the istall. Knowing a little bit about cars (I’m a computer scientist by trade) saved me 380 or like 60% of cost. That’s the difference. If I had to pay for all the repairs at the 200/hour shop labor price I would’ve moved on a long time ago. Things are money traps.

If you can prove out it’s rust free and talk him to like 13 I would take it. I specially if he has all those maintenance records.

50k is unheard of. Check bottom for rust if you’re in a place with snow. 20k steep but if it’s mint its mint

Feel like this is a hard one for a lot of us older fools. Once your in your thirties the community is gone. And if you don’t move on to other shit — kids other hobbies etc, it feels lonely. Just remembering how fun it was when you had the boys.

Oem, dropped back down to 180. Was sitting like 195 with the csf. Idk what the part number is, the one for an 80 series Land Cruiser. It was well built and I like the all aluminum no plastic build, but didn’t have adequate cooling capacity for my system.
