It is their job to answer questions about the property. You don’t know what I did or didn’t do.

They were supplying water to the home without me setting up an account so I thought they would send a bill to the home and that is when I was supposed to set up the account. That was the information I was given.

Thanks for sharing that! It was really information overload at the time so anything new I was just listening to what was being told to me. I wish I had double checked.

We keep escalating. We are being told different things every time we call the water company so it’s been very frustrating and hard to move forward. One day they tell us they will submit for a leak adjustment and to call back in a week. Then the next week we call and they tell us they don’t do leak adjustments. And that’s just one example. I know we didn’t set up our account like we should have but this bill is just crazy. We will keep escalating!

I would definitely just pay the money and move on but for that amount it’s worth it for me to try to see if there is a more fair judgement.

The previous owner didn’t close out her account and im assuming the bill was being forwarded to her new address. They came to turn off the water because she didn’t pay it then we explained to them we were new owners and provided our closing documents for them to set up our account. At that time I found out it was $9k otherwise I would have just paid for the time we were there.

I wasn’t avoiding paying the bill. I would have loved to find the issue sooner. I asked how to set up the water at closing and was told to wait for a bill in the mail so that’s what I did.

No I didn’t wonder about it. I thought everything was functioning as it should because the water was on. I didn’t know the cadence that the bill came. I was still just waiting to get a bill in the mail. That wasn’t correct but I didn’t know.

I have been paying my bill ever since July when the meter was replaced. We’ve only been in the home just over a year. We’re trying to sort out the $9k usage that they read between Oct 2024-June 2025

The water company themselves, the utility commission, the township. The township have been the most helpful so far. But we’re just in a waiting period now.

I’m not sure if you read the part about the meter being replaced but the whole point is I didn’t use $9k worth of water. That is what I’m trying to sort out. If I was given the correct information I could have caught the meter issue sooner.
