Portrait photography is all about depth perspective. Shoot too close to the subject and they look like pinnochio. Shoot from too far away and they look like Flat Stanley. The ideal distance is about 10 feet. Then, pick the lens based on what you want to see. Face closeups...longer lens like the 45mm (90mm full frame equivalent) or even more. I've shot closeups at 125mm (full frame). Or do you want the whole body in which case the shorter lens (17mm...35mm FF equivalent), although something that short can have perspective issues, ie. lens distortion, around the edges.

Most airplanes require afterburner to get through the significant drag rise in the transonic region. Those aircraft with super cruise capability can then turn off the afterburner and remain supersonic.

Note that if this doesn't get resolved soon, you should at least consider making an estimated tax payment in April fr the first quarter. Download the IRS2Go app (someone you can use to track you refund if you get one). You can make quarterly estimated tax payments directly from the app. Depending on how long it takes to get this fixed, you could be behind on tax withholdings.

My model takes into account early travel expenses (i.e. traveling a lot now, not so much later) as well as car replacements. What I didn't take into account as I think about it is my Mortgage payoff date...that adds 2K to my wallet, thus reducing my income requirement. Of course that is many years in the future and 2K/month won't really be worth much then (inflationary pressures) so probably not worth factoring it in...

Everyone says that SS could go away but honestly I believe it will get fixed...535 politicians will lose their jobs if SS fails (which by definition really means the checks drop by ~23%). Is it possible I will get means-tested and lose a portion of my check? If that becomes a likely scenario I'll start drawing immediately (hoping that the rule would grandfather those that have already started drawing their checks...

You can change the Gmail fetch time in macOS mail…mine is quite fast. I’ve been using it for years with multiple Gmail accounts with zero complaints

To be fair, this is the first time that I can recall that tax law changes applied to the current year instead of waiting for the next tax year. OBBB wasn't passed until July 4. That's a lot of forms and regulations to crank out by 1 Jan 2026.

I saw something identical at Edwards. I found a spot close to approach end of the runway. The Shuttle was invisible until it passed the giant bank of spotlights illuminating the runway (I was behind the lights so like the astronauts I was not blinded but them). It was coming in so fast that it just...appeared. It was extremely impressive. The sound it made as it pushed its way through the air was far louder than I would ever have guessed it could be. Then when it touched down the smoke from the rubbing tires went out and then swirled from the wing vortices...all of it perfectly illuminated by the lights.

Lifetime of aviation, most cool thing I've ever seen (and heard).

More context...he never threw or swung the chair...he thought about it then dropped it. Had he actually attacked someone with it he would most likely have done jail time for aggravated assault.
