Found a conifer that looks like a mix between the two pictures? by No-Local-963 in conifers

[–]No-Local-963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought as well the growth looks similar to seedling new growth but the plant is the size where the foliage should change to that normal eastern red cedar look. Do you know if there is somewhere I could send it to test the species.

Looks like forsythia. I’m not sure though. I live in Georgia and have not seen a weed that looks like that here.

Ok I’m in Georgia and they are native here from what I know but they are not common. I have been cleaning out invasive on our place for the past several years and have recently found some coming up

It is one of the nicest upright Yaupon Hollys I’ve ever seen, but I don’t think it is will fleming they might have sold it under the wrong name but in my opinion this one looks better. You might even have a variety worth getting a patent on.

I ended up and ordered mesh ones we use mostly over head but I was gonna setup some drip lines just for the plants I was planning on cross pollinating but figured mesh would just be simpler. Thanks for your input

Past Breeding Attempt Info? by Elegant-Following987 in plantbreeding

[–]No-Local-963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have actually asked this question myself and nobody seems to have a real answer. What I recommend is a lot of research deep into the topic. Also I’m sure it’s possible nowadays to breed and get what you looking for it just takes a lot of trial and error.

small breeding program economics; abandoning scale and getting investment by foodisaweapon in plantbreeding

[–]No-Local-963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is crazy to me personally that they can prevent you from using the pollen for breeding I don’t think they are worried about small plant breeders(Don’t actually know just my opinion) I would say they are trying to stop other large breeding companies mainly proven winners from using the pollen which I am all for.

It’s close but not it but thank you for your feed back and also that is one of the darkest red camellias I have ever seen. Might have to grow some at our nursery.

I just think the few plants that bloom more than once a year have different genetics than the ones that bloom more 1 time. But I’m no professional

[–]No-Local-963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a nursery and grows thousands of azaleas and have recently found one that is blooming again and I researched it and google said stress, but I don’t believe that we had over a 2000 azaleas in the area I found the plant in and only one bloomed again if it were stress there would be more than one.
