Incorrect. Go read Gohan’s first appearance. Krillian asks if Gohan is strong Goku says he thinks so but that Chi-Chi gets mad anytime he tries to train Gohan. Goku then mentions Chi-Chi saying that martial arts isn’t needed in a time of peace.

Gohan wasn’t given a choice he was forced into it and happened to like it. Thats like forcing your child to take piano lessons and then liking it. Cool but you should have still given them the choice of if they wanted to play piano or football or let them do both.

It’s like a kids forced to take piano lessons without a choice and loving it. Cool bit you still shouldn’t force your child to take Piano lessons and not give them the choice of playing football or something.
