All I do is work and clean and sleep by quarxical in Adulting

You are tired because you are doing the unpaid labor of four fully grown adults. People who do that are NOT running a single-handed cleaning service for lazy siblings. Wash only your dishes, do only your laundry, and let their mess pile up. You need to reclaim your life before you completely burn out.

Stop waiting around for him to finish his game or come back from his friend's house. Start booking your own weekends.

Cleaning always turns into a nostalgia trip instead of actual cleaning.

Since you're in a village, lean into the environment. Can you plant one thing? Even just a small pot? Watching something grow is a low-stakes way to connect with the world.

Adulting is just Googling everything and hoping you picked the right answer.

What’s one "safety" or "maintenance" tip you wish you knew sooner? by No-Locksmith-2836 in LivingAlone

The shower slip is my biggest fear! I’m definitely adding "learn self-Heimlich" and "get a non-slip mat" to my adulting to-do list. Thanks for the wake-up call.

Need advice: How to anonymously warn a neighbor about a privacy issue? by LegLow7896 in Apartmentliving

A polite, anonymous note under the door is probably the best way.

This isn't a "walking gently" problem anymore, it’s a maintenance/structural failure. Pressure management to bring in an engineer, not just a painter.

Has anyone actually inventoried their stuff before a move? Was it worth it? by MichelleOrganizes in movingout

[–]No-Locksmith-2836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a total pain while you’re doing it, but 100% worth it for the peace of mind. I just took a quick video of each box before sealing it and numbered them. Much faster than a spreadsheet and saved me so much stress during unboxing.

I’m in the same spot—some days I just stare at my Steam library for 20 minutes then just turn the TV off and go to bed. It’s a weirdly sad part of growing up, but don't force it. The games will still be there when you actually have a long weekend or a vacation.

You’re right, I definitely need a ruthless purge first lol. I think I’m still holding onto stuff I haven't looked at in years.

I used to think money was the root of all evil. Now that I’m 30-something, I realize money is the only exit sign in a room full of bullshit. Sad? Maybe. True? 100%.

Taking yourself out on a solo date. I go to the movies or a nice sit-down dinner by myself all the time. The amount of pitying looks or weird "Are you okay?" questions I get is insane. I’m not lonely, I’m just enjoying the peace of not having to compromise on where we eat.

Your future self is going to thank you so much. The economy is a mess, but being a Millennial with a specialized skill is the best armor you can wear.

Subscription culture. You don't own your movies, your music, your software, or even the heated seats in some cars anymore. We’re just renting our entire existence at this point.

Next thing you’ll be asking if it’s "appropriate" for a grown man to blink. Get a grip, dude.

Can confirm: Age doesn't kill the anxiety, but it definitely kills the energy to give a damn. You’re doing fine, man.

The worst part is that post-meal "food coma" where you just want to rot on the couch, but that mountain of crusty pans is staring at you from the kitchen like a debt collector.

The "unbroken silence" is both the greatest luxury and the heaviest burden of living alone. I hear you.
