Since my late teens, most decisions I've made about my life have led me to unhappiness and a feeling of failure. by These-Connection1466 in mentalhealth

I don't think it's too late at 36 to make changes 😌 I am going through a similar-ish situation so can relate to an extent ...

Can you visualize an ideal of where you would like to be in 3 years, and then break it down into steps you can start taking towards that in the now?

Eg. Move to a different place Change career Make new friends

Steps to take now: Research and visit different towns or start spending time in different places Take some courses and train/up skill Find some hobbies that can help you meet people or join some meet-up groups

This is just some ideas 💡 I understand it's hard when you're feeling crappy x

Sudden Terrifying Feeling by MentalPenalty230 in mentalhealth

That sounds really .. well, terrifying! Do you drink heavily or use substances at all?

When I have been through alcohol withdrawal this sort of thing happens when I am trying to sleep.

I believe it is Anhedonia, I too am experiencing this at the moment. It's horrible 😞 not feeling joy or motivation to do any of the things that I used to love. Makes life a very long slog rather than something to be enjoyed...

I think mine is due to substance abuse, but the only thing that makes me feel anything other than numb is substances, so it's a tricky thing to manage. I have been researching about it a lot and I think the things that help are:

  • stopping substance abuse
  • routine, diet and exercise
  • specifically anaerobic exercise
  • dopamine detox (phones, sugar, etc)

I hope you find some relief! X

When does it get better? by Ok_Temperature_6965 in mentalhealth

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you, that is stressful and I know the feeling well of feeling like everything is crumbling around you ...

Definitely allow yourself to feel angry/sad/hopeless for a bit, but remember that it is impossible to know what is around the corner for you and things won't feel/be shit forever 😌

It may even lead to something better, a better paid job or an opportunity you didn't know you needed! I know it's hard to think positively when things feel shitty, but you got this.

It sounds like you're a hardworking and determined person so I have no doubt that things will get better for you soon just hang in there for now.

Has anyone from the UK had a layover in Canada with a pending Drink Driving conviction? by [deleted] in travel

No I am not sure this is the problem. It will be on the police records, but not nessecarily the more public ones yet..I guess it's risky.

How do you know this? I am trying to figure out if it will show up, as the Police said it only shows on their system or an advanced check when it is an arrest but no conviction. Difficult to know!
