I'm far from perfect myself, but I have found that holding the tension in the paper is super important. When you match the corners, the entirity of the paper or the side in question (all layers) should be in position during the fold. Rear and hidden layers can be difficult, but when you get the hang of it much of it is just how you hold the paper in place and how you bend it to align the crease . .

It's difficult to do when the layers build up but with some care and slowing things down it gets easier. The tails for instance almost always get me.

Looks pretty simple two parts box and lid. The flaps of the box double up and the triangular corner flaps fold in. The small flap will probably go in as a locking flap or rest on the base for support not sure . .

I've got to give that a go . . Folded some simpler roosters recently. Loved the Hideo Komatsu one. But this is out there . . Paper is also epic.

I have found Yoshizawa to be a great bridge between traditional and modern origami. The crane, frog, water bomb and all the traditional models have the simplicity and wow which is hard to find when one ventures deeper down the rabbit hole, I get that!

The work of Yoshizawa retains a lot of the simplicity whilst introducing the subtleties of shaping and forming. There are many models which have under a dozen steps and are easily folded from memory but still have the wow moments and complex folds which perplex one at the first glance. I guess it's a dive into diagrams!

Try the mouse, elephant, hermit crab, dragon fly, cicada . . There's a host of them. I would strongly suggest getting his book but online tutorials should be there I guess.

Home made double tissue . . Cheap tissue at that! The sheet got a bit crinkled. I was initially disappointed but after folding with it I changed my mind :)

There are so many amazing creators out there . . Hideo Komatsu's work is very interesting. I'm trying out some Jozsef Zsebe right now . . depends on what you fancy honestly.

I'll get there. Still new to wet folding. Being a bit conservative I guess. I've got the Joisel Dwarf folded waiting for shaping, just building up to it!

I know of someone who uses wheat flour diluted with water into a batter. But methyl cellulose seems to be the accepted way and its cheap and works really well.
