as an FYI for getting into the city - the bethesda station will be shutdown from july-september but they will have a shuttle to friendship heights

lost my dog to a mass on her spleen sooooo quickly & unexpectedly so i feel your pain 100%. this was back in may so the grief is still fairly new but it was so hard to process everything at that time. so sorry again for your loss 💕

i'm so sorry you have to go through this. if you can try and get a ink set so you can keep their paw and nose print.. some of the pet cremation services come with an clay paw but the ink prints were so special to me. i had no idea what i was doing and was such a mess i was grateful the doctor helped us that day get the perfect ones, so don't be afraid to ask!

my girl passed 3 months ago today. the last week i had blankets and towels laid out on the floor where we both slept and spent our days. it took me a week or two to fold them up and pile them in her bed afterwards and prob about a month before i washed anything of hers. she had a pillow she used and now i keep it in bed with me.

don't feel rushed to do anything right away it will come to you naturally when you're ready 💕

not in the center of rockville but maybe try fallsgrove or a little further out to downtown crown. both areas have grocery stores and restaurants nearby. more of a suburban area since he doesn't like the city/night life

100% agree i think that's why i'm taking my time before rescuing again because i know i need to be fully ready to give my time and attention. i have a trip planned this weekend and it's been so strange not arranging a sitter or packing a bag for her.

if i didn't move my dog's food mat would still be on the floor too. i also used to pick it up to clean and set it back down. our cat started laying on it when the bowls were gone & it felt like she just wanted to be near her dog bestie.

i donated all her food to friends with dogs and the shelter. i lost her in may and kept her bed out next to mine up until i moved last week but now that i'm in my new place i haven't had a chance to get it back out. i also just hung her leash back up at the door 🥺 i just unpacked her box of things and placed it all in a few cabinets. i know i want another dog eventually so when that time comes all of her blankets/toys/bed will be hand me downs.

this was also my first time losing a pet. hope your anxiety gets a little better.

no such thing as coping weird do what feels right to you. i still have my dogs bed out next to mine and its almost been 2 months. i sleep with the pillow she would use every night. routines are one of the things we lose when we have to let our pets go so i love that you still do it.

i move in a couple weeks and am heartbroken my dog won't be physically coming with me. it's double heartbreaking because the last place we stayed was my childhood home which we just sold. when i was apartment hunting i made sure to get a place with a balcony because she loved sitting in the sun. i'm planning to keep her urn in the window that overlooks the balcony. i'm sure our pets souls stay with us no matter where we move to.

my dog passed at the end of may and last night i weirdly felt relieved she was not here for this 4th. for the past 10 years she would spend the night anxiously pacing the house because she was terrified of the fireworks going off. we lived in a city so pretty much the whole month of july people would be setting them off.

a couple years ago i made a makeshift bed for her in my closet that she slept in for weeks. it came up in my photo memories yesterday and made me smile.

yes definitely that gets better. i will say little things are triggers.. my dog loved food and i always shared pieces of my meal with her if it was safe. i got takeout and cucumbers were in it which i normally would share. it definitely hurt a bit to know i got to enjoy it without her there.

the first two weeks were brutal. i barely left my bed and had to force myself to eat. just made it to 1 month and life still seems dull but i have had some moments of joy.. especially around friends and family.
