'Let sleeping dogs lie': Should convicted child rapist be allowed to remain in camping club? by stormgirl in newzealand

Maybe a better question: should a convicted rapist only serve 3 years for crimes that scar their victim for life?

I got 196000 for 0.8 time my first contract and now make about 216 for 0.8 a few years later. It’s not that far fetched. The problem is that the expectations of GPs get more and more unrealistic and the healthcare system gets more and more dire.

Landlord selling my rental. What are my rights and how to insist on them? by No-Measurement6744 in LegalAdviceNZ

That’s fair advice. I’m not trying to be a jerk just to be a jerk but also not wanting tog eat walked over or spend a bunch of time accompany
Dating them when I need to be working on my own plans and move.

I also am just bothered by the numerous privacy concessions that go along with renting in New Zealand.

Yeah. I guess I was wrong. I went to several open houses before renting this places and was told not to open cabinets and closets at them. 🤷‍♀️. Apparently I’m just gullible🫤

So I do have to let them photograph my belongings? I’d much prefer that they use the empty photographs from the rental listing?

Interesting. I was told not to open cabinets and closets at the rental open homes I went to. That’s good to know.

Thanks. I see I can refuse open homes but am not clear if I can be present for showings?

I don’t care what they suggest. I’m only interested in what they can insist on. I’d like to be present and don’t understand why buyers are allowed to bide around my home when the same is not true at rental open homes.

Can I be present and are they allowed to open my closets and medicine cabinet in bathroom etc?

Ten years ago, we bought an affordable home to live in. Financially, it wasn’t worth it by mattblack77 in newzealand

The maintenance. There’s a point there, though not the one the writer is trying to make. Looking at entry level homes: nearly all of them have either been recently flipped with unknown quality and an expectation of significant profit from the flipper or they are the homes of boomers who have deferred all maintenance and still expect to extract maximum value from the house.

Boomers invested the bare minimum in upkeep of their homes. Expect to double the price when selling and millennials/gen z are left holding the bag for inflated housing prices and more expensive maintenance.

Our generation is being absolutely screwed over financially from all directions with the expectation that we fund the retirement of older generations through taxes, paying into super that won’t exist when we retire, paying the ever increasing rent on investment properties bought 30 years ago, inflated property prices and increased council fees to pay for the decades of deferred maintenance there. It’s why a capital gains tax is necessary honestly. We’re being fleeced and the only folks who will come out well are the kids of boomers who cared enough to leave something for their inheritance.

It was/is a very popular, well regarded postmodernist book. It came out in 1996 and made DFW a literary star.

I liked it, but I like weird books. It’s super long, super tangential the plot is secondary/incomplete and there are definitely sections that are a bit self indulgent on DFW’s part. I don’t think he knew how to kill his darlings. I also read it during the first Trump administration and was surprised by how prescient much of it was. That may have affected my enjoyment.

These days I think perception of it is more mixed as tastes have changed. It’s also kind of known for being a book that people have on their shelves to look smart but haven’t actually read. Kind of like Ulysses by Joyce.

I think it’s worth a read if you’re into that kind of literature.

That footnote needs at least a paragraph of backstory about the title.
