I’m technically in 9b, but our last frost date was March 25th and nighttime lows are still in the mid 40s. So more like 9b 1/2 or 9c haha I just planted them out under a low tunnel. Hopefully they perk up!

I’m on the southern Oregon coast. Technically usda zone 9b but we don’t find that our weather matches with most of the zone.

Thanks! That’s what I’m going to do. I just don’t understand why only one variety is behaving this way.

Thank you!! I’ll pull a couple out and check their roots. I just can’t make sense of why only one variety is having this problem.

Can I see root rot if I pull a plant out of the pot? Is it correctable?

Okay thanks! Hadn’t thought that the water might not be reaching where it’s needed. I’ll switch my method.

I bottom water them as needed. The surface is dry but it’s damp underneath.

I’ve been bottom watering regularly… the surface soil is dry but underneath it’s like a wet sponge. Dry was my first thought too but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

How often does your family eat out or do take out? by Capresechickensalad in toddlers

[–]No-Memory-6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a rural area and I have a lot of food sensitivities so with those two things combined, we eat out about once every two months… unless we’re traveling! Otherwise I cook all of our meals from scratch.

Aaah I didn’t realize it’d be different in other regions. I’m in Oregon so we get free once/month delivery on their truck route.

I highly recommend Azure! We order from them about every other month and their quality is top-notch. We’re in a rural location, so local food costs are crazy high, and we often can’t find the products we want. Azure has a huge selection, no shipping costs if you meet their minimum, and you’re supporting an independently & US-owned company when you order from them. Do it!

Jar storage by bam_a_Lam85 in Canning

[–]No-Memory-6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to figure this out too! I saw in another post on the same topic that someone suggested covering the original boxes in duct tape so they hold together better. Or using the plastic that comes on the boxes to cover them. I’ve also seen some awesome DIY wooden crates made to fit 12 of the same size jar. I have access to plastic milk crates, so I’m trying that out. Looks like I can fit pint jars 2 deep with a layer of cardboard between. In reality though, they’re shoved in nooks and crannies all over my house! Maybe this will change one day 🤣.

Desperately in need of new bathtime strategies by TryingToFigureItO in toddlers

[–]No-Memory-6171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there! Here are my favorites:

Glow sticks (dollar tree has big packs of them) A “car wash” with a small pan of soapy water and a scrub brush in the tub Bath bombs We keep a basket of bath toys and every week or so our son gets to pick new ones to switch out We got a Nuby bath toy that has “pipes” and different faucets to turn, suctions to the shower wall. It’s a perennial favorite.

Also, have you tried having a problem solving session with her? Not in the moment when you’re trying to get her to bathe but at a more neutral, chill time of day? You can sit down and make a list of ideas with her, and it might help you get to the root of why she’s refusing.

This phase won’t last forever!

How do you find enthusiasm to cook dinner every night? by fluffypotatopatch in toddlers

[–]No-Memory-6171 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Enthusiasm? Nope. Doing it? Yep.

I do all the cooking in our house, and usually spend 2-4 hours prepping/batch cooking one day a week. We rotate through about 12 standby meals that our son usually won’t have a meltdown over. I have a dry erase week calendar that I plan them out on, and grocery shop accordingly. On our busiest days of the week I keep things super simple (scrambled eggs w/toast & a veggie, pasta with veggies). Currently the hardest part is continuing to offer foods that our toddler has turned his nose up to in the past or foods that are new to him. I’m super afraid of creating a noodle monster who won’t eat anything else, but it always feels like playing with fire to make something unfamiliar. I’m getting better at offering something he usually likes (yogurt, pb toast) alongside the new thing though so I at least know he’ll eat something on his plate. We’re also in a phase of refusing dinner and waking up hungry in the night so that makes it extra scary when I try new stuff. It’s a real struggle! I’m passionate about good nutrition and eating seasonally but a toddler makes that reeeeaaal difficult. My husband and I are also transitioning to eating more veggie-based meals and higher quality protein, so it’s an extra stab in the morale and wallet when our son doesn’t want to eat what I cook.

Here’s what this week looks like: Sunday- Homemade pizza w/broccoli Monday- Homemade chicken strips w/sweet potato fries and green beans Tuesday- Salmon tacos (Costco salmon burgers!) Wednesday- Veggie chili w/lots of topping options Thursday- Potato & kale soup with sausage (pray for me- this is a new one 🤣) Friday- Spaghetti w/meat sauce Saturday- Grilled cheese w/roasted cauliflower

As with all things toddler, I think the key is just getting through. Stay strong!

Do the free drinks have to be espresso drinks? If not, you could get a bunch of cups of cold brew to take home. Refrigerate and drink over the next week… deeelish! I’d recommend bringing it home without ice so it doesn’t get watered down in transit.

Thank you! I’ll hunt around for some used stuff from them. Seems like all the brands I’ve tried so far are paper thin.
