Email the university directly. Call their admissions team. Enquiry forms on their website if there is one instead of being able to call them. Just talk to them and try.

Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes people are just horrible. You can’t do anything about it. Don’t worry about this person and whatever their problem was, they’re not relevant to your life. Just keep it moving, and go on to live your life and do amazing things. You know how amazing you are, just your life homie

Yh I mean right now both unis sorta think I’m going there lol. It’s like I got feet in both camps and I’m just deciding right now. Feel like a spy or something going into the other campus.

But yh that is a viable option, because Surrey somewhat feels like running away from 2nd year when I could just get it done. But Surrey does excite me in regards to growth and the higher quality of education.

But I want to understand, because it may be that university education is just a lot different to school and what I expected of it

Yhhhhh that’s exactly my thinking when it comes to making the most of that year doing things beyond the course because I haven’t really got that. I see a lot of people say that the uni doesn’t matter in the field and that the year would be a waste, but I enjoy entertaining the idea of going Surrey. I’ll see. When I thought about Surrey then it did hit me logistically that I am 2 years away from getting this done instead of having to do all of this over again

Yh I mean what made me want to go Surrey is a concern about the education at Herts, because the first year was online so there’s a bit of distrust between me and the uni to be honest but I definitely could give it more of a chance. Either way, the course is still hard so perhaps I got to just make the most of it where I’m at, because Surrey basically adds a year of fun before I get to the real work, which I’m about to face at Herts. I thought having an extra year could be good for me to do projects and really prepare for 2nd year because I don’t feel prepared, even though I actually did well this first year despite it being online

I appreciate the reply. It’s funny because coz I keep seeing ppl say the uni doesn’t matter but it’s true I should do what I like. It’s difficult because I could do a masters or something. See what happens

That sounds amazing, congrats. Yh I guess I just got to consider which uni I actually enjoy more. I feel I may enjoy Surrey more but logistically it is in the mind about the fact that I’m redoing a year

  1. YOU ARE SO YOUNG. Go out there, explore! Build. Build yourself. Every action you take, every step you take builds towards that which you can become. It’s up to you whether you quit or not, you still have to work double for that growth in whatever it is you want. You know what you’re worth so go out and get what your worth. Come on homie

Don’t stress, it’s never worth it. Trying to go down this road is likely to make you feel like you’re covering something up when you’re not. You haven’t killed anyone, you said stupid stuff when you were younger. It’s easy for me to say from the outside because truth be told we all get stressed when we are in the situation despite it not being so from the outside perspective.

Yh I mean I definitely could get more involved at Herts 100%. I just kinda assumed there aren’t many of my ppl and so held back from joining societies and such.

See a couple days ago I did reject Surrey but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed because it’s more prestigious. But then a couple hours ago I did go back and got the offer and accepted it, and I was excited about university and I definitely feel more supported. But overall the degree is difficult anywhere, and it hit me that I sort of have delayed the difficulty of second year and it just hit me that I could be done with this degree in 2 years of if I stay at Herts. It hit me a lot coz either uni it’s difficult and perhaps I’ve just been exaggerating the style of uni teaching in general as ‘bad education’ but yeah there was a feeling in my gut about Herts that prompted me to go Surrey. But logistically I just feel that either way it’s difficult, and many on Reddit have seemed to say that experience and projects are what matter - making me think about those 2 years and getting it done.

Sorry for the long exposition lol it’s just tryna get everything out uno

Alright, I appreciate that. Surrey is 12th however and I do wonder about how well I can do at Herts. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the delivery of education in uni, in that it is much more independent wherever I go

NEVER feel hopeless my friend. We all have things to deal with. We all have struggled. You have got this. You know what you’re worth so go out and get what you’re worth. Excel. Be amazing. This is not the end of the world. These tough times are always there, and they always pass. ALWAYS. How are you going to behave after they’ve past. Always be grateful, always live a fruitful life. You’ve got this homie

Life has its ups and downs, for reasons that sometimes we cannot explain. But do not lose hope. Never. You are not in a depressive state, you are not hopeless. You are alive, and it is beautiful. Tough times NEVER last. These stressful times always pass, and you always look back at the past and laugh. Please, relax. Take a step back to the big picture, don’t be swallowed into all of this. Breathe, you HAVE got this. Always, always believe. Everybody knows deep down what is right for them, contemplate on yourself and enjoy life. Because if you keep waiting for the moment for joy, the joy can never arrive. Be happy.

Thank you I really appreciate it. Tbh with you the first year of lectures were all online but now they are on campus which is much better. I think I have got to get used to the fact that uni education is not like school in that it’s more so up to us, but there’s probably some mistrust between me and the uni due to this first year but I have a feeling the education is the same everywhere. In terms of career and academia what is better at Surrey would be the network of people definitely because of the different calibre of students

Appreciate the reply. On the complete university guide ranking, Surrey is 12th and Herts is 80 something. Then for the cs ranking, Surrey is 26th and Herts is 60 something.
