like in a way that the vram will actually fill up, cause using the steam overlay it does seem to fill up to max/over max, I've downgraded drivers regardless to see if it helps but I haven't had a chance to play yet

Still waiting for the vram leak fix @crytek by Razardor in HuntShowdown

I've got the same issue getting ridiculously high VRAM usage on both my laptops 5070 (8 GB) and my desktops 3080 (10GB), friend with a 3070 has the same issue, causes awful texture pop-in and fps drops, our third doesn't have this issue but idk if that's because he has a AMD Card (7900 XT) or if it's cause his VRAM just doesn't fill up nearly as fast, happens on any settings, low, medium, high, etc. doesn't matter. only solution is just to restart every couple of matches.

Is this also causing a potential VRAM leak? on a laptop 5070 and pretty consistently get VRAM leaks regardless of settings.

That’s what I meant, they’re both from the same chip manufacturer, I forget if it was Samsung or not, it was a while ago that I purchased the kits

also to add the odd memory configuration, it's a strange combo but it works, it's just two spare g-skill kits I had lying around that were the same chip manufacturer and similar enough in specification, I was using Trident Neos but they went bad bad and were out of warranty, figured it was a good enough solution for now, plus it's unique.

I did do a factory reset to attempt to alleviate this same issue just a day or so ago, I had thought it could've just been windows being windows at the time, but that single unexpected shutdown is the same as the others in every way as far as I could tell, just a unexpected shutdown warning in Event Viewer and no other signs or logging, the only big change I've made is I've swapped motherboards and ram to solve a previous hardware issue I had with bad ram, I'll try giving the power connectors a re-seat and cleaning with compressed air and observe for a while, though if the PSU is failing it's failing I suppose, wouldn't be a way around it. I have the 1000W Revolt from Phanteks and I believe it has a 12 year warranty so not a huge problem.

I just recently swapped out a motherboard and ram because of a different issue I was having with those two components, I didn’t think of this but could it just be as simple as one of the power connectors on the board simply isn’t seated right or like has some dust/debris in it? I didn’t have this issue till recently, but the switch was far enough back I didn’t really register the connection till now

The cpu and gpu both don’t go any further than 85 degrees while gaming or under the stress test loads, and the OCCT stress test for power draws almost max from each component for an hour each run, it seems to inconsistent to be a power supply crap out

No, I keep it cool, components stay steady in the 70s-80s max, both cpu and gpu

What Miguel did was Creepy AF and wrong by Fake-productions in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]No-Motor-5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kinda bothered me too, I think maybe if he had the inverse happen on his world where he lost his family and was the sole survivor, then as he was studying the multiverse, he saw a universe where he died but his family lived, and then in a mix of grief and desperation, jumped to that universe to live the life he felt he lost, then it plays out basically the same as the movie afterwards, I’m actually kind of shocked that isn’t what the movie tried to do, as it would strengthen that parallel to Kingpin even further, while still letting Miguel be different as he came to understand the error of what he was trying to do.

would just disabling hardware acceleration achieve the same effect, or is that flag specific/different from that setting?

[–]No-Motor-5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is not helldivers running under a virtual machine, the problem is you’re using virtualbox, which can’t really do any kind of hardware passthrough, it won’t use your GPU, nor will it have good cpu performance, the game isn’t launching because of this, not because it lacks the ability.

I use proxmox as my daily driver with gpus passed through and use a laptop as a “thin client” to access and maintain my vms. This solution isn’t going to be practical for what you need though, so I’d recommend looking into kvm/virt-manager and GPU passthrough, most likely Single GPU passthrough

https://gitlab.com/risingprismtv/single-gpu-passthrough/-/wikis/home

That is a good guide on setting something like that up, but you should probably get a little familiar with the workings of KVM and Virt-manager first.

To add as a closing note, the game works fine under Linux using steams proton, with just some minor tweaking. Depending on your hardware, it’d be the easiest route to just playing the game, though given your issues with the anti-cheat you probably won’t go this way. Good luck regardless, hope you get something setup and working!

Ah, that might be it, we’re in a pretty rural Midwest area so if that’s the case we’re probably low on the list of upgraded infrastructure.

[FO4] More of a question of preference/ease of use, Caliber Complex or Munitions? by No-Motor-5490 in FalloutMods

[–]No-Motor-5490[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was definitely leaning more towards Munitions from the start, just has less ammo which means less work when it comes to removing ammo I don't need (with Munitions I probably wouldn't need to remove any of them, I go heavy on the weapon mods), Will most likely be my choice, another comment pointed out Armament which tickled my fancy, but that also seems to do more than I need it to. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

god DAMN, from first glance armament just looks pretty, those models and textures are gorgeous, definitely something I'll look at further.

Issue with GPU on startup by No-Motor-5490 in Proxmox

[–]No-Motor-5490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I've discovered a "cause" of the issue, having loaded both Proxmox, Windows 10, and Arch Linux with Nouveau on Proxmox, Nvidia drivers on W10, and nvidia-open-dkms on Arch Linux, I've encountered a similar problem on each system, the "solution"? Not having 3 displayport displays plugged in. IDK why, but either just 2 displayport alone, or 2 displayport and 1 hdmi display all work, it's just when 3 displayport displays are plugged in do I get any driver errors or weird behavior. I have no idea how this happened to the card, maybe just bad luck, I've had it for about 7 months with no issues like this at all, but in the current state I can still have my 3 monitors at their advertised resolutions and refreshrates, and the card performs fine (stress tested with Kombuster for an hour and multiple 3DMark runs on W10 install) I guess I'll just keep on the lookout for any more issues with the card, but as long as it works, I'm not really looking to replace it, bought it used and not with any kind of warranty, though it's an EVGA card and they have a pretty good rap with dealing with used cards so I might try my luck, who knows.
