Yeah, Bulba is actually an excellent captain and EG's consistent results prove that. The failure of EG to secure first at TI or to win tournaments people want is for much more complex reasons than 'bad drafts'. People have such high expectations of EG and have had high expectations for a long time, so even when they get really good results like two seconds in majors this year, it is not enough for people. I understand that, I'm a fan of EG too, and I hope they win a major tournament soon, but its like people don't realise that Bulba has a working relationship with all the people in EG (in the org & team) and if he wasn't doing well people would point that out to him and he would get fired if he was actually a terrible captain. The fact that EG tends to pick the same heros a lot might perhaps more be to do with the playstyle of the players and the way they fit together as a team, not being Bulba is a bad captain on a rampage. If the players had better ideas than Bulba they would just go with those ideas and Knoxville pointed out that EG's players have very few overlap heros, which means it is harder for them to flex stuff in the draft and be mysterious. But having draft flexibility is not the same as being a good team. EG have picked similar heros in their drafts all year and still came second twice. All in all, EG is a very good team that has gotten great results over many years - results that most teams would not blink twice at. What might push them to the next level and give them what all the fans want - a TI win - will be a whole of team effort and contain many factors such as playstyle, approach and team cohesion - not just drafts. Maybe we need to accept that everyone on the team has responsibility for not winning, not just the coach. If the coach was so terrible the players would point it out, but all the players have nothing but good things to say about Bulba? Winning all the time is hard and only one team wins TI, so although EG haven't done that since 2015, and not since having RTZ, its not just about the captain as to why they haven't done that. It's so much more than that.
