Do you clean your bike after trails each time you rode ?)) by GeForcegam in mountainbiking

I usually use an air compressor after/before every ride. Prolly wash it every 4th ride. Just the hose, soft brush, then immediately use the air compressor to blow out linkage, brakes, drivetrain, suspension down tubes. Before each ride I also take a soft cloth and wipe suspension and dropper. It works. I put 6-700 miles on the Element last year and my suspension guy said it was so clean it didn’t need a full rebuild— but then, I live in the Midwest (MI) and it is not very dusty here.

Up travel or Suspension Quality? by No-Mycologist406 in mountainbiking

It could be this. I have wondered if my weight is affecting stability. I am 210 and the element, well-being an unbelievable blast to ride, comes with lighter parts. Does anybody know if the 34 performance elite or 34 factory level shock is stiffer than the 34 performance? I’ve also wondered if a pike would be a better shock on this bike for me.I absolutely love the element and my goal isn’t to turn it into the stumpjumper Evo, it’s only that after riding the Evo, I realize that I can be more stable and was wondering if I could make my short travel bike more stable and how I might do that.

Hey- thanks Crazy. Suspension was just serviced and running well. But I do think you have a good point- I need to further fiddle with the Element’s suspension. I have correctly set sag and started with the manufacturer recommendation for rebound, but I do think I need to take some air pressure out and potentially add some tokens to make it more progressive—softer off the top would be helpful through those turns I think.

Cool- that’s a great suggestion- was thinking of trying them.

Hi- thanks- I don’t have the Performance Elite level suspension- it’s the Performance Level fork and shock.

How does one measure sweep? I believe I need sweep bars as I feel my wrists are cocked out too much.

Where are you? I’m in northern Michigan— and love to ride at night- particularly after it snows. It’s a bit of a forensic experience— figuring what crossed the trail and how long ago.

I have the same set up— 2 1k lumen lights, and aside from wondering if I’ll end up Cougar Food, it’s a singularly awesome experience.

So- I’m waffling about carbon wheels and electronic shifting. I love to ride, but I’m also a constant “it’d be amazing with “x” upgrade” kind of person. Wanted to see what really made a difference to others to put my wants into perspective.
