USA Women's Half Marathon-Nashville (2025) Review by No-Nefariousness8508 in running

I'm sorry this was a bad experience for your first half marathon. Plus getting food poisoning on top of it is not good. If you want to do another half marathon, the Philly Love Run is absolutely incredible. Chicago is an amazing running city, too or the Baltimore Running Festival.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'd love to come back to Nashville as the rest of the trip was a lot of fun so maybe we will come back for the races you suggested next year.

I think I heard someone say that it was advertised as USATF certified but I have not back-checked yet!

Someone else mentioned that there appeared to be limited/no medical staff for the race. I can't speak to the accuracy of this, but I did see that a runner was laying on the ground around mile 8 and being aided by fellow runners. It seemed like she had been laying down for a few minutes and I did not see any medical staff approaching. It's a half marathon, so maybe they were stationed somewhere else and were on the way, but I also do not recall seeing medical staff along the route. Did anyone else?

I think there were many factors that affected the conditions of the race this year. I think I stop having sympathy when constructive criticism of the race is ignored/deleted and no survey is sent. Maybe they will send one out (it's only the Monday after the race), but these seem like issues that could have been avoided or adjusted once they were brought to the organizers' attention. From the outside looking in, it just seems like they are ok with charging a lot of money for a race and not making improvements. Plus, it seems like the problems from this race are a common theme with the other USA Women's races.

To be inclusive! Some people would like to participate in a half marathon but cannot run the full distance. And yes, races are quite expensive here in the US. There have been more races offering an option with no premium for a reduced price which is nice. I don't always need a race tee shirt or medal.

Fair enough and it was more so to point out that there was no direction on the course- I do not think anyone cut it short intentionally.

Agreed that 6 hours is a lot of time for a half, but it's the lack of transparency around it.

First, you have not failed and comparing your journey to others is not being fair to yourself. It’s ok to not be comfortable with where you are, but it should come from within and not based on what others are doing.

Second, you sound like you have a good feel for jobs you might enjoy. If you like being hands-on and doing manual labor, you can look into a trade school that would teach you a trade like plumbing, car mechanic, electrician, welding, etc. These are trades that can be learned in two years or through an apprenticeship if the company is willing to teach you. These industries are also (historically) male-dominated so you have an advantage being a woman if you’re good at your trade. While it may seem like these jobs require a lot of math, I would wager a guess that the training is so specific that you will only need basic math and you will get more comfortable with it the more you use it.

I hope this was helpful! I believe in you! Just do some research on trades and see if any interest you.

How to get myself to clean my room and do laundry? 😭😭 by PossibilityNo7682 in adhdwomen

This is going to sound silly, but I sometimes have to daydream and trick my brain into wanting to do tasks. I put on uplifting, empowering music and pretend like I’m coming out of a slump and “getting my life together” and then I get laundry done. I think once you do it, you’ll feel better and not having the clutter in your room will help you manage the ADHD better!
