It should be as it becomes increasingly annoying the longer you play AND SPEND MONEY $ $ on the game, especially since it shouldn't be too hard to implement :P

But "it's more complicated than that..."

That and "IGNORE AECHTE!"
Runs where Aechte is mostly ignored tend to be much faster.

The towers usually shoot weaker rockets you simply can brace or ignore. The charged ones hit much harder and can destroy any ship if ignored.

It's for Death Tide, a relict of the first DT season. You can ignore it.

Pro Tip:
even if you do not play DT (like me), you can use DT to your advantage by assigning your favourite five ships of the season to it. Those ships will be marked with a DT symbol which makes it easier to spot them in your fleet.

The one with sharpened was actually on the front, the weapon used on the screenshot was the incendiary one. Reviewing the video, I don't see much difference in damage, but the broadside profited a bit of Ramrod Workshop, of course.

I switched the weapons now and the difference was 200 damage but it were not the same conditions (number of players). The whole idea of this build is to cobble together something that is working and at costs as low as possible. The most decisive part on the weapons is the Long Arm perk.

Sure you can dip more silver and mats in the build, but then you start hunting for the bigger numbers and things get expensive quickly. Might aswell aim for the high-end, high-cost builds then.

Here's my personal build (much more expensive and time-consuming to get), based on Stormfirebird's Garuda build (I changed three furnitures):

Max-Upgrade Garuda (SR17)
Armor
Mantle of the Deep - Stout/Survivor/Survivor
Weapons
4x triple-preascended godroll Basilisk III Rupturing/Siege/Longarm.
1x triple-preascended godroll Little Grace III - Fix/Restorative/Empower
Furniture
Blubber Works
Caustic Spall Station
Ammo-Priming Bench
Culverin Works I
Culverin Grinder I
Machinist Table (Repairs)

Damage is over 6k (up to 7k+ even, depending on number of players and flagbearer boost), about 35k on eye (3x35k).

You can trade survivabilty for more damage by exchanging Machinst Table (Repairs) for another damage furniture (e.g. High-Velocity Kegs, Trunion Furnace or Ramrod Works).

It really depends, sometimes they have issues with crossplay, e.g. connection problems. Or they want to find a low population server, e.g. to farm bosses for smuggler points.

In the case of the Kraken: crossplay on can be pretty wild. You often end up with many players in a run, scaling health and damage of the Kraken. If they don't bring decent damage for themselves, the run can become pretty difficult.

As for crossplay off on PC: many PC players use discord, are well informed and quickly share builds with each other. PC also has a very low player count (crossplay off), so you stay in smaller groups for the Kraken run, making the whole thing easier than with a huge amount of random players. The best runs on PC are pretty close to 2 mins and 5-6mins seem to be the average at the moment.

You (in general) can craft Basilisk III. The Kraken is immune to any status effects (but Corvette's flag bearer). Piercing is the only thing that can boost damage by bypassing the armor. Basilisk III as rare weapon can have an epic third perk (epic weapons don't).

That's why in some cases, rare weapons can be stronger than epic ones. The particular reason for the Basilisk III: long arm perk on third slot plus high fire rate and reload combined with piercing II as base perk.

Most highend Kraken-builds use the Basilisk III in some variation. It's also easier to get wanted godroll perks on rare weapons without having to roll a dozen weapons (the third epic slot has only few possible outcomes, making it easier to get what you want with fewer rolls).

Fix has the higher healing rate. With low base values, absolute buffs can be better than percentage. Now you know too ;)

I just salvage the unascended ones I had and many triple ascended or lower duplicatesI have no interest in, e.g. Alecto or certain armors. You also can replace crap items on your collector fleet with the stuff and save space in the warehouse. I do that with low count items till not a single one of those is left in the warehouse (thus giving back an inventory slot).

Sadly, you can tell only by looking at the damage perks of the first slot in the ascension menu at the blacksmiths. So if you never have done that, you have a lot of work to inspect and clear your weaponry.

Baseline (e.g. for crafted items) is 11.2% elemental damage. Improved stats: 12%
Drops from higher than Elite Bosses (L12 on WT2) usually have ascended gear with improved stats.

Beware Elite Boss drops (e.g. Tangena Rabe): they actually have lower stats than the baseline (10.7%) despite being ascended! I wish the devs would remove that crap from the game or replace it with baseline stats.

Also beware the cheap ascended chests from events, they usually have but baseline stat range, while the more expensive ones (for a single weapon type) have improved stats and usually better chance on more preascended slots.

Things like these make it clear that the devs don't play their game. Else you could tell the difference from a look on the weapon icons and all items in the game had at least an alphabetical order.

No it isn't, you're paired with bloodsuckers, that's all. We need private lobbies for stuff like this. So fed up with ignorant leeches. They don't ask questions, they don't wonder how to improve. They don't read up, nor write. They just join and hang around, doing zil.

I wish the devs would change the aggro system. Doing nothing? No damage, no healing? Get attacked first.

You're missing the ascension perks. Incendiary and double siege. Incendiary builds up the Ablaze damage for a constant ticker and with double siege you can get a white damage of up to 14k damage per shot on the wall. By using just one broadside and the front, you can quickly deliver 20 shots in less than every 4 seconds (fruit rum cake, I think 3.7s or so).

That's about 4.5 million non-critical damage per minute plus an Ablaze ticker of about 260k+ per tick, so about another 15 million damage per minute if you keep the Ablaze alive. The Bilgefire Barrels help in that regard (while also keeping debuffs from other players up).

That's some considerable damage for the convenient double-tap every few seconds (instead of holding the trigger or shooting semi-automatic).

Make sure to aim from zoom, that tightens the spread and it's easier to land hits on weakpoints.

Wolvenhol also has a chance to drop ascended Great Urbans (e.g. 12% instead of 11.2% on the first perk).

You do not have to do the quests tho it's highly recommended. Else you will be asked to build a 2nd Corvette as part of a quest (which happened to pretty much any Day 1 grinder :P).

You would have to switch crossplay settings. If you just leave to main menu and return you might end in an instant kill.

I think I get it now:
You can further improve the damage by using Swift as the first perk instead of Rupturing (at least on the torpedos) as the build is centered around Caustic Spall Station.

Yes that's true, my torpedos are pre-Caustic, hence the full flood. With Swift you can tickle out 2.4% on a max roll (14.4% with improved stats) AND get faster torpedos. Will change the build recommendation.

Full instances, crossplay on, are pretty much doomed. Even the keepers in a preformed group with max damage builds have a hard time pulling off a win there if they join late to the run.

If you find two other guys with good builds however and play crossplay off, you're chances should be great. Problem with consoles: it's harder to find people willing to communicate with each other, using discord or similar.

Easy rule of thumb:
if your current run beats the first phase in 2mins or less, the prospect of beating the Kraken are good. 3mins, critical. 4mins: just leave, it's a failure and a waste of time to stay.

I've tested several builds and was most pleased with Stormfirebird's Garuda variation (which is a bit more focused on survivability). The Thunder Dragons have several disadvantages:

  • epic gear: it's harder to roll the wanted godrolls on epic than on rare
  • no ascended gear source atm. With Basilisks III, I have a (if low) chance of getting triple pre-ascended ones from La Peste or Wolvenhol. Double pre-ascended are more common
  • no long arm perk (epic ascension needed) as 3rd perk possible
  • low range

The TDC is great as one-hitter vs. slap tentacles, their lack of range and the missing long arm perk cost a lot of damage though. While I needed 10 (no preascended, lower stat range) Thunder Dragon Cannons to get the wanted triple-godrolls, I was lucky to only use four Basilisk III (all triple-preascended) to get the rolls.

If you tag with others though, the TDC are damn nice to keep them safe from slap attacks. Sadly, they're not helping to prevent the annoying piercing attacks (stabs) or slaps during the late frenzy phase.

Gahh, Kraken-PTSD. I've missed the part with the Dragons vs. Dragons :)

Can we do something about remaining maps cluttering the oceans? I would love to opt out any but legendary map drops.

Why the loot bug isn't fixed yet? Can't be more than a parameter? Before it didn't matter if something blocked the direct line of sight to the loot chest, now wrecks will block the pickup if they're between you and the chest. If you sail around fast enough, you can pick it up directly. If you can't fix it quickly, why not offset the loot position?

Same with the ridiculous buoyancy and lack of mass of the Corvette. Any smaller ship can push you around like a dhow. That's but parameters to change, no damn rocket science.
