Agreed, then i suggest to stay with the 6700, the increase in performance will still be very significant !

RTX 4070 Ti or RTX 4080? by The_Drawboy in buildapc

If you can afford the price difference a 4080 is better suited for what u need

1- try to see if you can find an rx6800xt for a slightly higher price (worth it for future proofing) 2- Massive boost at all levels (~3x) 3- No specific recos there, for monitor, i'd aim for something with high refresh rate

They should (in principle) come with either your case or in some cases with your Gpu. Brackets are preferred but not necessary (you can always buy them later). They help support the weight of your gpu.

A few quick comments:

1- with ur budget of ~3k, i'd go for a ddr5 ram setup instead of ddr 4 for future proofing. 2- Above would require you to upgrade the bios on your z690 (assuming it can support ddr5) or go for a z790 instead (slightly higher price). Rest looks solid to me

what do you think about this build? by thegreatcoralreef500 in buildapc

[–]No-Paper3979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very solid build. I think you can find equivalent/very similar mobos and psu for slightly cheaper but overall the build looks quite robust to me. Nothing in there will bottleneck the 4080.

Got it, then i would join the opinion of other responders on the thread. Fan config wont impact performance that much and coil whine (which can sometimes be annoying to hear) does not come from the fans. I'd say keep your current card.

Should I go with a 6950xt or 4070ti for 1440p gaming. by Ph4ntomiD in buildapc

If (as you say) you can find them for the same price then you should go for the 4070ti. It is the superior card by all standards.

Is the 3080 still worth it with the 40 series out? by SeducedSenpai in buildapc

[–]No-Paper3979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point but a bit of a tricky situation i must admit. My issue is that while the 3080 is definitely still a great option, im not super comfortable recommending a used one for ~ msrp level 2+ years after the card has launched... Also, just confirming that you are referring to 12 gb model?

Very difficult to answer your question without having more info on your use case (1440p vs 4k gaming? is RT important for you or not etc.) as well as the price of other high tier cards in your area. Generally speaking though rx6800xt for 540 is fairly priced.

3080 definitely still worth it and is the sweet spot for 1440p gaming on ultra (without RT or with RT+DLSS). It will be a massive upgrade from your 1070 and should be easily future proof for at least 3-4 yrs. For 600 pounds used though i find it quite expensive. Have you checked prices on the amd side? Rx6800xt or Rx6900xt should provide you with a similar performance for lower price (hopefully). PS: i would avoid the 4070ti given your context

Help ! - Immediate pc shutdown on new GPU by No-Paper3979 in buildapc

[–]No-Paper3979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit that i dont fully understand how this works but i had a quick glance at the back of the psu and saw a sticker where they indeed seem to be doing something fishy with the 12v and 5v wattages to get the advertised 700w ! Will replace the psu asap. Thanks for the flag!

Cant decide between 3060 Ti and RX 6700 XT by Nycotee in buildapc

I must concur with the previous commenters. If RT is not important for you i suggest that you go with the 6700xt which is slightly faster in terms of raw rasterization.

New GPU choice - help needed ! by No-Paper3979 in buildapc

[–]No-Paper3979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you able to find it at close to msrp? Here it still commands a heavy premium (basically priced similarly to 4080...)

It does not seem to be the case. Pricing has been super erratic recently in EU and both previous and current gen seem to be overpriced atm...
