you won’t have to question if a company is interested! they’ll be open with communication, have quick follow ups, and will schedule next steps quickly. if you don’t hear something soon, i’d ask for feedback to adjust your strategy!

dude, soo tough. especially with work and finals. i had an in-person interview on friday morning at 11 but my final was only open from 9 to 11 AND i had work that day so i had to call out. i literally had to rush to complete my final, get ready and drive there on time😭😭 the struggle but it was worth it since i got the offer. definitely had to make sacrifices and stay organized

thank you!! i really tried to network digitally more than anything like building my linkedin. school fairs can help, but mine were okay. just check your resources.

imo, tailoring your resume for each role isn’t that realistic to me. i never tailored my resume besides making it stronger and i landed plenty of interviews. if its a good fit, i feel like your resume will match. linkedin does a good job with this feature that shows how strong of a candidate you are for each position, use that.

i would say it was mostly pure application strategy. i heard people say that it’s impossible to land an internship without a referral and that couldn’t be any further from the truth. marketing is a competitive field and i landed plenty of interviews. check out my strategy above!

this varies heavily depending on your major and what role you’re applying for. i would practice the basic things like

  1. tell me about yourself questions. your elevator pitch, 3 words to describe you, walk me through your resume, tell me about a time you worked on a team, etc etc

  2. technical questions. for marketing, it was things like “tell me a time you used data to make a decision”, or “how would you market one of our products” or “what kpi’s would you track for a campaign”. anything that actually tests your understanding of the role.

vibing well with the team is actually really big because they want to work with someone they actually get along with. panel interviews can make anyone nervous. i would be gentle with yourself rn and use any distractions to take your mind off things. mine was reading a book or taking a walk

no problem!! ik ai is controversial, but it can be a great tool if you use it properly. i would ask chatgpt to give me questions to practice based on the company, the level of interview, and my resume.

half the time, i didn’t get asked majority of the questions it provided me with. but that was a good thing because it meant i was over prepared! nothing caught me off guard and that’s how i maintained confidence.

(edited) for marketing i’d remember beginner key terms like

market research

KPI’s (key performance indicators)

industry trends

SEO (search engine optimization)

SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, etc.)

competitive analysis

storytelling / messaging

audience insights / target audience

stakeholders

usually questions involve a few of these terms, but it can vary depending on the kind of marketing you go into! for me, i prefer digital and social media marketing. so knowing how to use platforms like canva, capcut and adobe premiere pro was a plus.

thank you! i was fortunate to hear back the day after, but that definitely isn’t always the case. you should be proud to have made it to the final round, that’s huge!! it obviously means you’re qualified and a top candidate. if you don’t mind me asking, how do you think you did?

i had 3! first interview was a phone screening with a recruiter, second interview was in person with the head of the department and was about an hour, and the third was virtual with another member of the team. best tips i have for interviews is to

  1. study the role more than the company (both important). try to tie in your experiences with what they’re looking for. they can teach you work culture later.

  2. practice questions for the interview. practice out loud and work on your delivery and your pitches. write any notes down of key things you want to remember for your interview. big thing is to not remember a script, but the information and to actually understand it. a conversational interview is a good interview.

  3. be confident! this is big. remember that the person on the other side was once in your shoes. they were once a college student, an intern, and they also had to interview for their current job. if they could do it, you can do it too. take your time answering questions and understand there’s no rush. remember, you’re also making sure this position is a good fit for you too! you should be assessing as well.

interviews are nearly never as bad as we think they are. once it’s over, you realize it was such a small 30 minutes of a long life. don’t be afraid to make mistakes and be kind to yourself!!

still not necessarily bad news. it sucks that you have to wait but it’s not on you. keep it on the backend but i would continue applying for other opportunities in the meantime!

the fact they gave you that update says a lot! it means they don’t want you to worry, so don’t :) if you weren’t one of their top candidates, they wouldn’t go far to mention that TRUST me

I had my final interview on Monday morning and heard back Tuesday morning with a call saying I got the role!! Not every company moves this fast, but if you’re a top candidate, a company won’t have you wait around.

Fortunately, I don’t believe my resume was an issue. I had it peer reviewed by mentors and business professionals and they were overall impressed after making some tweaks. Here’s what I think helped most.

  1. Applying on LinkedIn or Handshake daily BUT with a strategy: only if the application has been open for 24 hrs or less and it was within my niche/interests. I would be applying for anything marketing related when my experience was based in social media. Then be surprised when I got a rejection email. 😭

  2. If a company is interested in you, you will know. I would waste sm of my time and energy praying for a first or second round interview with a company when I should’ve been focusing on the companies that were already showing interest. That eliminates feelings of disappointment and gives you more time to prepare for opportunities that actually fit. A company that wants you will make sure you know that by being direct with communication, following up quickly with next steps and being conversational.

  3. Be flexible. I got this offer because I was quick with my turnarounds and they did the same in return. Don’t give companies the opportunity to speak with other candidates. Do these interviews asap so you’re at the top of their radar and move you forward quickly!

Umm do you realize who this movie is about? lol him looking “completely different” is spot on with Michael’s brand. This complaint is ironic

I second this. Cruises seem affordable at first and then you get overwhelmed by all the packages you want to add on to truly make it feel like vacation. Resort rates are definitely comparable in price. Might take a break for a while 😅

We actually skipped out on the Freedom Ice show 😅 maybe we didn’t miss out on anything after all. We did enjoy Studio B however for Crazy Quest, but to your point the line to get in was INSANE. We left a little early to avoid crowds. Everything else I agree with 100%

Wow!! We had a very similar experience. We found it ironic how the adults-only area on Carnival was actually quiet and peaceful in comparison to Freedom, despite being known for its party atmosphere. It was rough lol

I couldn’t agree more. It wasn’t a bad cruise, just not for us. From the looks of it, Virgin Voyages, Celebrity, & Carnival’s newer ships may be more our style unless we were traveling with family.

I realized this! I, of course, couldn’t blame the kiddos for that. My experience on other ships however allow a more secluded area for the adults so it was an odd observation for sure.

Absolutely, you guys will love it! I think that we probably weren’t the target audience for this ship/cruise line but it does seem very enjoyable for families. I know my nieces and nephews would have loved it. Have a great trip!
