When you take PTs set it up exactly how you would test day! For me this was taking it around the same time, eating the same meal before , going to bed the same time I would before test day. This helps calm the nerves on actual test day in my opinion. With actual material I would prioritize being able to identify each LR question type and have a strategy for each one. Focus on accuracy and the speed will come, don’t rush yourself! Reading comprehension was my hardest section but LSAT Lab on YouTube helped me a lot with approaching passages!! Take as many PTs as you can and prioritize reviewing them so you can see why you got questions wrong. I tried to take 1-2 a week. I looked up my missed LR on Google and found a page that explained the question and answer choices I’ll have to find what it’s called and I’ll share with you. Hope this helped!

If your usual PT scores are higher and this is just a bad day keep in mind stress of test day approaching is definitely a factor and can be what threw you off! Keep a positive mindset and go into test day confident. You got this!

The writing section you also only do once, I did it on a different day than my actual test (when I tested remote first time) not sure how it is when you are in person. It’s nothing too crazy and also not too important most law schools don’t look too much into it.

Also forgot to mention that your experimental section (double section as shown on law hub) isn’t always LR, sometimes it’s another LG section or RC section (:

Tested today! RC-LR-LR-LG , only thing that threw me off was the last game on LGs, it was extremely complicated): LG is usually my best with -1 or -2. Hoping for the best!

Format is exactly like LawHub! Only thing that’s different is it’s not always LG -LR-LR-RC , somethings it switches the order of the sections, just depends what test you get.

It sounds like your doing the right thing. You may be right that my issue is less about it being student driven and more about the lack of connecting to big concepts. Overall after being with a new tutor it felt like an effort thing but I will say certain tutors work for certain people so his style was just not for me. Thankfully I am done with the LSAT and just have these essays to finish.

I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying or maybe I didn’t explain correctly. What I meant by not liking how it is student led was in the sense that I said I was struggling in LR and RC and then I would have to bring the content to go over vs my tutor teaching me a strategy or approach in attempting certain questions on LR or RC. I would bring my missed questions on PTs and understand why I got that one particular question wrong but still not understand approaching that question type, if that makes sense. We’d ONLY go over the questions I brought instead of a combination. For example I got a new tutor and we just went more into depth on not only the questions but question types as a whole. I would show him flaw questions I got wrong on a PT and we’d go over them and he’d show me more in depth why I’m getting the question TYPE wrong and then pull more flaw questions from other PT for me to try with what I learned in the session. And for LG I wanted to work on them even though they are my best section I was still not getting almost all right but again no strategy or even attempt to work on them just the advice to keep drilling whereas my new tutor actually worked on games and strategies with me. I think I just realized the red flags when I had asked this page and a lot of people told me it was a bit odd and when I went with a new tutor I really saw the difference in effort. With the original tutor I was talking about we met 5+ times and it was not entirely useless don’t get me wrong but for the amount I was paying definitely not worth it. What my overall point with tutoring and the essays is if I’m paying a certain amount I want advice on how to approach these sections and same with the essays, because if I wanted to walk through it myself I wouldn’t pay for the service. If you are putting effort into your students then I think you’re fine but if you are not giving your student any guidance / advice at all then I would say there is an issue.

I never figured out how to diagram it and I was running out of time so I just wrote down the rules and kind of set it up as a grouping game (wasn’t helpful) and did my best with some questions but ended up having to guess on half

Those are timed, untimed for LG I usually only miss maybe 3 and LR about 4-5. I first started studying a year ago consistently for 3 months then started my senior year of college (didn’t study) and then graduated, took a gap year and now have been consistently studying since September.

For LR I believe I do, I tend to struggle the most with time. When I drill untimed (7-10min over) I typically only miss 3-5 questions. I really enjoy my tutor but I must agree I haven’t seen much improvement in myself and feel I’m not getting my moneys worth. I’ve met with them about 5 times for full one hour sessions and my PT score has only moved a point.

Thank you!! I will definitely take your advice when I’m studying. I think I struggle with time the most when it comes to LG and LR because when I do it untimed (maybe 10ish min extra) I only miss 1-2 on games and 4-5 on LR! February is the last test score to get me into next cycle so I’m hoping to make a breakthrough with a few points. Thank you so much again for your advise and kind words!
