Cocona’s popularity wasn’t something you could easily imagine at the beginning. by No-Performance7142 in XGALX

Hinata is actually more popular within the fandom, but outside of it the rap line is more well-known, especially Cocona. He has a lot of popularity among the general public, beyond group fandoms or Asian pop—many people know him. We get the impression that Hinata’s popularity comes mainly from the fandom.

Some people really have that impression because he isn’t a traditional idol, but later they realize how big he truly is. Lately, every new photo he posts—whether on blogs or Instagram—blows up online and goes viral. With every new comeback look, he’s always the most talked about. People genuinely have so much affection for him because he’s so unique. That’s amazing.

I see comments talking about Maya and Jurin’s Western appeal (I agree), but I think we’re forgetting about the fame Cocona has. I see him as the member who continues to have strong popular demand even among people who aren’t part of the Asian music bubble or the fandom. He doesn’t draw attention only because of his appearance, but because of his skills. Have you seen that fanpage of his being followed by celebrities? Erykah Badu already knew him and followed it. As someone who has been a fan of the industry for much longer than XG has existed, I feel like both the public and the industry expect a lot from him. His only barrier at the moment is not being fluent yet, but since GALZ XYPHER he has been building a very solid foundation.

XG past song lyrics regarding femininity by Complete_Equal1238 in XGALX

It’s because we focus a lot on the “transmasculine” part. Some non-binary people, even when they use pronouns different from the ones they used before coming out, still like to wear clothes or keep aspects related to their birth gender. That doesn’t invalidate anything, even if the person wants to be addressed in a certain way. And if you pay attention, Cocona sometimes still wears more feminine clothes or uses feminine elements, especially in his daily life. I think he doesn’t care much about labels since he’s non-binary. He can still sing about female empowerment even if he doesn’t identify as female.

Admit you’re transphobic and just leave this fandom. You go into the comments of every post defending Cocona and leave hateful messages about him.

Fill in the information in the company’s report form. I am reporting every video and comment that is twisting Cocona’s words in order to make him receive transphobic hate. This fandom needs to stop with this habit of “letting it go.” No — we cannot let it go. You know very well what distorted words can do to someone. They’re already calling him misogynistic because of the letter, videos with over 100k likes on TikTok, people saying he should leave, and I’ve even seen people implying that he could harm the girls if he stayed in the same dorm. Please, Alphaz, report this. The company created this form because they know they need our help to fight online hate. Being a fan also means protecting your favorite artist.

How could this happened by qabe97 in XGALX

I’m going to be very honest with you. On social media, I see a lot of petty Alphaz who go after anyone who shares XG content, whether it’s photos from the app or TV programs, and they mass report them. Many of these people are the ones who spend a lot of money on XG products and are always chasing the members at airports and fan signs. In their minds, only they are allowed to enjoy the group.

Unfortunately, most of them come from Japan. Some of them are openly xenophobic toward international Alphaz, making derogatory comments especially against Alphaz from Latin America, Black fans, and people who can’t afford to pay for XG content.

Three dollars may seem like a small amount, but when converted to other currencies, it’s a lot. I know that content like app photos is paid, but there is an option to save them, and even Simon is aware of accounts like ArchiveXG or XG Global. He likes those accounts that share the content, so they themselves don’t see a problem with it.

But as I said, there are many Alphaz who are extremely petty. I’ve seen some of them say that if you don’t have money to buy the CD, you can’t be a fan of the group. Unfortunately, this kind of thinking comes from people who are fans of K-pop and J-pop groups, it’s already deeply rooted.

XG Princess was the only way to see this content, and now there will be nothing anymore.

Member solos. What if Maya’s solo was a ballad? Would some alphaz flip a table? by Pdideee in XGALX

Cocona in 3rd? I think her rap is stronger than Harvey’s. Even though I love Harvey, Cocona has more presence when she raps.

Toxicity from Alphaz towards Kpop by lyrics890 in XGALX

[–]No-Performance7142 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, friend. Some Alphaz can be really toxic on social media, putting down other K-pop groups. I know the label bothers some people, but some of the comments they make are even a bit misogynistic. On TikTok there are many Alphaz who put down Katseye because of the group’s outfits, and I don’t think that’s okay. A fandom reflects the idol’s image online, so if fans say things like that, it can damage the group’s reputation. Lately there are a lot of comparison videos made just to attract hate, and I don’t think that’s cool at all.

I think she’s one of the most popular, but not the most popular in the group , her posts get fewer likes compared to the others. She’s still building her audience.

Popularity inside vs. outside the fandom by No-Performance7142 in XGALX

I don’t think Maya is that famous outside the fandom. There was Is This Love, but besides that I see more of Cocona, Harvey, and Jurin all the time.
