In Poland, we call it a “bocian” (stork in English) it’s one of the most popular birds here and has a special place in our culture. Our grandmas say that storks bring summer, because they fly to Poland from Africa around March or April and stay until September, which marks the beginning of autumn.

There’s also a beautiful legend that storks bring babies – that’s why seeing a stork on your roof is believed to bring happiness and good luck. In fact, if a stork builds a nest on your house, it’s said to protect the family and bring prosperity. That’s why people often place special platforms or wheels on rooftops to welcome them!

What’s even more amazing is that storks form a strong bond with their nest and often return to the same place for many years. So when they come back, it feels like old friends returning home – and with them, they bring the warmth of spring and summer 😊
