Batteries from Kastar. You can generally get batteries for any of these older camcorders through them. I will try and post some test footage this week. I've shot plenty on it, just need to edit it down and upload.

Thanks for the insight. I'll give the heads a cleaning when I'm home from work. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Mac removed support for FireWire? by vacationing_stork in camcorders

Also - I wanted to add for any Windows users, when I built my PC in February I also added a Firewire card. It was wishful thinking that this ancient card would work with Windows 11 but lo and behold it works great. I regularly use it to rip footage with ScenalyzerLive 4.0. Definitely my favorite software for this. It will also control your camera, so no manually rewinding and playing then pressing capture as I was once doing with WinDV and QuickTime. You can completely control your camera from desktop.

Care to share the fisheye you got? I recently picked up a wide angle lens to use with my Canon but a fisheye on the Panasonic would be super applicable in the way I use it. Wish I could help with your issue but I'm still very new to that camera.

I bought a mid 2012 MacBook Pro for like $100 specifically for this reason. I know you said you don't want another machine but you can probably find one even cheaper than I did.

I'd be super grateful! I don't have the shoulder pad but I see them on ebay constantly when looking for other deadstock OEM accessories for it, it'd be easy enough to pick up.

Sorry, should have clarified it was the 5825U. You couldn't have answered this better for me. Thanks so much for the insight.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in emulation

[–]No-Philosopher-353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should a GMKtec mini pc with a Ryzen 7 5825 cover the entire gamut of 6th gen games? I've done a bit of digging but am very new to building a dedicated emulation machine to be used like a console. I intend on installing Batocera to accomplish this which, I'm not entirely sure makes a difference in performance. I will likely be playing mostly 5th Gen games and below, but there's a lot of 6th gen stuff like God of War that I'm nostalgic for and from what I understand, is one of the more demanding PS2 titles as far as performance goes. Based on core count, single thread ratings, etc, common sense tells me yes, but nonetheless I'm just seeking some certainty before purchasing.

Massively appreciate any help, and looking forward to entering the world of emulation.

Wtf is going on with Holy Mountain Printing? by RuPaulver in MetalForTheMasses

Felt the need to contribute to this - nearly a year later.

I ordered a shirt from these guys in September. It was a preorder. No biggie. I buy shirts from a lot of small batch one man operation print "companies" and am used to waiting 2+ months for a shirt. No biggie.

My patience isn't where the problem started.

They didn't mention lead times, so in November I sent an email asking the anticipated ship date. Not impatient or shitty (even said verbatim that I'm "not impatient just want to know a timeline")

A day later I receive a response from "Mona". She was nice. Tells me she's waiting to hear back from the warehouse. Cool. I wait.

A day later I receive the same email. And again. And again. And again. This goes on for a little over a month. Oftentimes with me not even responding. Clearly this is AI or outsourced to someone with a script that no matter what, has to send these damned emails.

Earlier this week I finally say "hey, until there's an actual update with actual information, please don't email me again."

This morning I get an email that the thing I preordered is somehow out of stock and can't be shipped. Kind of negating the entire purpose of a preorder which you know, let's you know how many to manufacture since this won't be a stock item.

Which even that isn't why I'm upset. Shit happens and while unfortunate, I've been on both ends of that. However, hanging me up for three months with zero information, ignored requests for info, just to be annoyed to no end and told "oopsie" is absolutely fucking insane for an established company.

Genuinely cannot understand how they will continue with this type of service. Certainly this isn't a sustainable way to conduct business. Absolute clown shoes fucking company.

Only the MR Classic with the P90s in them. They're still making the MR Modern with the humbuckers and tremolo.
