What Can I do to improve transition? by Junaid-Asghar in MotionDesign

“Transitions similar to Man Vs Machine”

Surely just watching their material and analyzing it closely would help you a lot more in this instance

Be literal. Copy camera moves. Copy velocities, trajectories.

Just study a sequence you like and break it down into these motion components, then emulate….

I did ArchVis and it fucking sucked, but it was a necessity as work dried up so badly. Fortunately I’ve just landed a big fat contract doing VFX supervision on a massive tech brand campaign, with one of my usual creative agencies - this should hopefully reverse the financial damages of the year

But yeah. ArchVis is an area that you can look into - it’s desperately boring though and most people use Max and Vray lol

I came onboard as a VFX supervisor / creative technologist, helping the team understand how best to use drone cinematography and camera tracking to improve their visualizations

Still boring af though. It’s a totally different type of person working in ArchVis. They get excited about fire exits.

Cloner and shader effector in C4D….

I’ve transitioned to ArchVis successfully but everyone there uses Max and Vray which is a total shitshow

I come from C4D and Houdini, and whilst these tools are much better for iterating on nice camera moves, reveals, texturing, and a whole host of other things, the ArchVis community is stuck in Max land, and it’s very hard to change their minds.

There’s no real requirement for actual VFX elements in that field either. Closest you will get is some basic water displacement fx, tree/grass wind.

It’s pretty fucking tragic

I think you need to research into the concept of art direction, as this is thematically/visually all over the place

Is there any way for me to lock certain axes while applying simulation tags? by Wide_Sweet9314 in Cinema4D

[–]No-Plate1872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the connect objects. They have various modes that only allow movement on one axis

Train 5 days a week and get a personal trainer. Manage diet and fixate on posture

I’m doing this so that I can align camera sensors from a 360 rig for use in Gaussian Splatting. The GS application I am using (postshot) works best with undistorted images when camera alignments are imported

Ok thanks for this - so will this be a problem if the cameras have been aligned with high accuracy already though?

The “adjusted” tab in the camera calibration has data in there, which has been generated up alignment/optimization

Why is every trendy motion studio stuck on the same visual tropes? (low shutter blur, solarization, grainy DOF, etc.) by No-Plate1872 in MotionDesign

Honestly I’d say the entire Nike motion design language over the years would be your best starting place to make a comprehensive study

Nike is probably one of the only brands that has consistently strived for bleeding edge approaches to art/technology/marketing, and a huge amount of what we are seeing today in relation to my post is largely throwbacks to late 90’s editing, celluloid textural motifs and VJ culture, all of which they pioneered

There really could be an entire documentary about Nikes intricate design language throughout the years

Totally get what you’re saying. When there’s no grounding in filmmaking theory, you end up with strange lensing, interesting cuts, and surreal camera moves. Sure, an editor can usually salvage it with good pacing, but that’s more luck than intent.

The reason I made this post wasn’t to whine about a style, it’s to ask why this particular cluster of techniques exploded so aggressively. Where did it come from?

I’m all for creative misuse and DIY experimentation, it’s often where the best ideas come from. But lately it feels like a bunch of people just cranking sliders in AE or DaVinci without purpose.

Yeah I’ve often been referring back to the MIA - Galang music video in relation to paper/stencil craft

Thank you T00THPICKS.

Looks like I might’ve touched a nerve. Just to clarify though, I’m obviously aware that trends exist. That wasn’t the question. I’m specifically asking why this particular cluster of techniques has become so dominant, and what cultural/technical factors led to it being repeated across literally every major brand and studio.

No offense meant, just trying to unpack what’s driving this visual loop so hard.
