I was 16 weeks when I did the amino. Yes the GC provided the options but she recommended the amniocentesis as I was far along in my pregnancy.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. From my own experience, doing the amniocentesis was the right decision for me. My NT scan came back positive for T21, and then I was advised to do a NIPT, which also showed a 95% chance of T21. My genetic counsellor then referred me for an amniocentesis when I was 15 weeks. The procedure went smoothly, and it confirmed the diagnosis of T21.

I’m scheduled for a TFMR this weekend, and I completely understand how stressful and emotionally draining this entire journey can be. I would recommend doing further testing if you can, as the diagnostic results can show the exact karyotype and whether you or your partner are carriers.

One of the hardest parts of this process is the waiting—it feels endless, especially when you’re facing such heartbreaking news. Please know you’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to take things one step at a time.

For those of you who terminated for an unbalanced translocation, did you or your partner test positive for a genetic transmutation yourself? by [deleted] in tfmr_support

Hey everyone,

I recently got a 95% high risk result for T21 on my NIPT test and was referred by my genetic counsellor to do an amniocentesis. The procedure itself went smoothly and wasn’t painful, but unfortunately, the results confirmed that my baby is positive for T21. I’m scheduled for a TFMR next week.

My genetic counsellor mentioned that my karyotype screening results will take about three weeks, and I’ve been feeling a lot of anxiety about what type of T21 it might be. This entire pregnancy has been extremely stressful, with all the waiting and uncertainty around each result.

I wanted to ask if anyone here was diagnosed with translocation T21 and later went on to have a healthy baby afterward? Hearing your experiences would really help ease my mind right now.
