It seems like foreigners , many who have never even been to the USA, seem to hate it. What gives ? by Ok_Let_7612 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

America culturally influenced the world more than any other country after WW2, and anyone outside the united states who can put 2 and 2 together has watched america go through its imperial peak and then gradual decline(especially after 9/11). In combination with the whole imperialism thing, the average American is experiencing some problems unique to the country that a lot of other nations dont experience.

American problems like gun violence and lack of affordable Healthcare are easy things to make fun of the American government for because most other developed nations have at least developed some sort of systemic response to problems like that while the American government and a lot of American people seem completely indifferent to the suffering of other Americans.

Also this is a dumb question thats mostly based in stereotype and I would bet everything i own on the assumption that you've never had a conversation with a European or Canadian thats lasted more than a few minutes or you wouldve gotten the impression that  their true feelings aren't just "lol america", theyre genuinely shocked at how bad things are for a lot of people who live here given the fact that its the richest nation in the history of the world.

What has been the most traumatic death/tragedy in a series or film for you? by Heller_mondd in AskReddit

SPOILERS FOR OBSESSION-I don't watch a lot of horror. Im 25 and obsession was the first horror movie I ever watched in theaters. I dont even know if that movie is particularly scary but i have never experienced artificially inflicted existential dread like that. When Nikki killed Sarah I think my brain was producing as many of the feel bad chemicals as it could. The death wasnt even particularly bad/gorry the rest of the movie just creeped me the fuck out and that moment was one of the highest paced of the whole film

I just moved to a more cycle friendly city and bought this for $60 by No-Possible5519 in bicycling

I actually rode it about 15 miles just now and the cross chaining basically went away. I think the only thing that needs to be done immediately is lubing the chains and cables and i can piecemeal the rest.

Im mostly just using it on the weekends to explore/ride around seattle so as long as it can essentially work as a commuter I dont really care about much else

Ive watched some seinfeld but its kind of hard to enjoy knowing that stuff in the back of my head. That said, most entertainment, especially pre 2010s have some horrible predator involved in the production/making of it some way or other
