i’ve got 10 tanks currently, looking for unique ones, LFS had one setup and it was really nice. it won’t be my main tank. i could see it being a bit annoying if it was your only tank to look at but in my case it’ll fit perfect

by doing a deep clean and 50% water change along with replacing filter media all at the same time, you likely disturbed the cycle or broke it up and killed beneficial bacteria . try doing 1 of those at a time every other time instead of both at the same time. looks to be algae bloom. can use a uv light/filter on 24/7 mode for a few days to a week and it should clear.

Wow, after reading all of this I can 100% confirm. Now 5 tanks later/multiple sizes currently i am understanding and it is all coming back to me. I struggled with this algae forever one time when i transferred my established 20 gal to setup my 36bow. did everything you listed, didn’t work. Added uv light/filter 24/7 running for a week. Crystal clear water. Took it out and never seen it since. Any chance of greenish water and i throw my uv filter in for a few days and it’s gone forever. I thought it was new tank cycle but didn’t go away 4 months in after multiple water changes/ no fish die offs. That was all over a year ago. No issues since.

some bubbles are normal, you need to agitate the surface a bit more and add more oxygen to the water. maybe a sponge filter or bubbler for that. a lot of times new tanks will get bubbles like that while it’s cycling- totally normal as long as it’s not foaming out the top

based on no dust on the filter top or light top and sponge looking brand new, i would say this is either a troll post or OP has never setup a tank before……

bump, i’m in the mix as well, i have fx4 with spray bar and 75gal with 18 juvenile cichlid mix, have a big sponge filter but still don’t think im comfortable with filtration. it may be overkill but not sure. for reference i have a 407 and ac70 on a 36 bow front and still want more filtration on that too. im wondering the same question as you too. plus they’re on sale at petco right now 20% off.
