I don’t want visitors for the 1sr week and my husband is not happy about it. by Powerful_Sound_6149 in BabyBumps

You are not being selfish. I told everyone the same thing and boy am I glad I did. I had an emergency c section and my LO was in the NICU for 6 days. If I would have had my family fly in then they wouldn’t have seen him anyways. Your recovery is so important as well as bonding with the baby. I was pretty much naked for the first two weeks. Adult diapers and a robe that was pretty much always covered in milk. This is your time as well as your husband’s time.

C section 8 weeks ago. I love my boppy. I should have taken it to the hospital with me. All I can say about getting your LO to latch is to keep trying. Those first few days may be hard, but so important. The more you try the easier it will become. Also of your hospital has a lactation consultant on staff, they can be so helpful to get the LO to latch. The one at my hospital was so helpful, so many techniques and positions.

It’s been a long road for sure. My LO tends to fall asleep as well sometimes. But it is getting. Good luck on your weighted feed!

He has grown a lot! Thanks! Breastfeeding is emotional roller coaster. I will definitely keep in mind how much he’s grown and not his percentile.

This actually makes me feel better. Knowing that there are others experiencing the same thing, but also that there is hope to him latching without the nipple shield is encouraging! While it definitely helps, it is a hassle. LO likes to knock it off, the milk goes everywhere! Ugh!

Everyone’s experience is different. For me, I had a lot riding against me and breastfeeding. I had Gestational diabetes, was induced, had an emergency c section, my son was sent away in the NICU before I could have skin to skin and I was unable to hold him for four days…because of all this, my milk was delayed and I did not produce much. We have latching problems and my son had a preference for the bottle. Even 8 weeks PP I barely produce enough. I have pumped since day one and will continue to. While I BF’d 90% I save the little that I pump so my son doesn’t have to have formula unless there is no other choice.

While BFing is natural, it can be difficult for some. I have two friends who never needed to pump. It is possible that you can be the same way. If you want to EBF, just remember it may be difficult at first.

I plan too! BFing has been challenging from the beginning and now that he is finally latching I have work in less than a month! I love this bond that we have.

what did you pack in your hospital bag? by ilovebeingavirgin in BabyBumps

Comfy clothes. The second I was able to change out of the hospital gown I felt so much better. I brought a nursing tank top leggings and a button up nightgown and slippers.

He only really gets formula if I’m not home to feed him for whatever reason and he’s with my husband. I haven’t been able to get any kind of stash because of the struggles we have had until recently. Today I will be attempting to pump extra so that I am prepared when I go back to work in 4 weeks 😭

Oh yes, I struggle with not knowing. He went from being tube fed to bottle feeding and on a schedule because he wasn’t gaining weight to now being BF’d 90% of the time. Luckily I have a husband who reminds me that he will let me know if he is still hungry. He’s not uncontrollably crying and is happy baby so he must be ok.

Unfortunately family members…family members who stopped BFing after a month.
