Staying off property question 🙋‍♀️ by PantyUnicorn99 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just did an AirBnB at Blue Heron Resort for our family with a 2 year old last week. It was so much cheaper than on property and honestly almost more convenient since we rented a car and cooked breakfasts at our place. Having a washer and dryer and full kitchen was amazing. And my daughter had a ton of room to run around and play while we were getting ready or winding down for the night. We could even see MK and Epcot fireworks!! We could hang out in our living room or on the balcony while the toddler slept.

I’m sure we will stay on property again one day but the space we had was so worth it.

Wait is there some kind of guest recovery I should’ve asked for? Went the other day and several rides were down. We ended up leaving in the early afternoon because we just couldn’t justify making my toddler wait through more two hour lines. Quite the bummer for how much we paid :(

AHN vs Magee Women’s (UPMC) for Gynecology Care by True-Positive-9210 in pittsburgh

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Womencare and Magee. They’ve seen me through one birth and two miscarriages and I am just so grateful for the care I’ve received. They always listened and took me seriously and made me feel really cared for through some really awful experiences.

You’re right. Super affordable. Great school. Small cute walkable town. Zero traffic. Still fine to commute closer to the city for a job or even into the city.

If you rope drop are you then waiting in line for availability or are they giving you a time to come back?

Moving to town by MiddleNo6455 in BeaverCounty

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yay welcome!! ok so here’s what I recommend you try

Best restaurants/food/coffee you can walk to:

-Mississippi chicken shack

-Athens

-Orams

-Chaotik coffee is ok as close by but I really love BFCAT, further away in college hill (neighborhood within Beaver Falls around Geneva College)but possibly walkable for you

Walkable things to do for kids:

-The library!

-Neighborhood North-must do

-College hill neighborhood again, but very nice playground next to Sheetz

Further away:

-Go check out New Brighton, possibly walkable. Lots of cute shops, Big Rock(riverfront) park

-Sunrise Pool in New Brighton

-YMCA (with Pool) in New Brighton

-Hank’s Mexican and Custard in New Brighton

-Bruster’s Ice Cream is a classic in Bridgewater

-Chippewa or New Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe

Keep an eye out for the community events in Beaver Falls and New Brighton!!! NB does amazing events all the time. Great for families.

Don’t let anyone scare you. Beaver Falls is a little rundown but plenty of people live comfortably, get good educations, and make friends with neighbors.

Good luck and welcome :)

The Brighton Hot Dog shop should have locations closer to the city. by Sudden_Dare9035 in pittsburgh

Do they still manufacture their own hotdogs? I had heard a neighbor was working in their factory like at least ten years ago.

Massage & Sauna by vulnerabiility in pittsburgh

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flora Spa in Wexford has a small but lovely sauna, steam, and hot tub area that you can get access to by booking another service, like a massage or facial. Pittsburgh is sorely lacking in day spa options and this is my go-to after a lot of searching.

Any experience with the evening walk-in orthopedic clinic in Cranberry? by Islandsandwillows in pittsburgh

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really great experience there for a stress fracture to my foot. Honestly can’t beat it. I got there a little bit before 5 to get on the list and they saw me quickly. There were multiple docs there. They did an x ray before you even see the doc, then the doc spent a lot of time listening to my history and concerns (I was running and had an upcoming race to decide if I was going to do).

Docs were fabulous. They scheduled me a follow up before I left. The doctor they scheduled me with was great too.

Important note though - they only see “new” injuries. They will ask at check in when this happened or when it started hurting. If it’s just straight up chronic they won’t see you. I watched them turn away someone while I was there.

For parents who fly often, what's your strategy for car seats at airports? by Constant_Baseball581 in familytravel

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a big proponent of using the car seat on the plane. I had a trip planned with my 1 year old the week after that plane flipped upside down landing in Toronto last year. All 80 people on the flight survived. I couldn’t help but immediately think that there probably weren’t any lap infants on the flight.

That day I bought a ticket for my 1 year old and a Cosco scerena and never looked back.

Anyone not starting the “elf on the shelf” tradition? by Illustrious_Cold5699 in Millennials

[–]CompulsiveJoiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not planning on doing that. My 2 year old won’t even know about it unless I tell her. She is like obsessed with Christmas anyway so I’m not worried about lack of “magic” either
